Finally got my Drivers License

After driving for a year with no license (never been stopped, harhar), I finally got my license. DMV was packed af at 9AM, didn't test until 1PM. Parallel parked like a boss as I don't find it difficult, drove great through the neighborhood and returned to the dmv. Passed with flying colors on first attempt. Only thing I "messed" up on was putting the car in drive BEFORE turning the car on. lol! The slight nervousness/loss of concentration only hit me there. I was borrowing my sis' sweet ride since mine would fail, considering how some doors don't open from the inside.

Advice if you're planning on taking yours: Don't be nervous! That takes top priority.
Know how to drive, which should be obvious because you're taking a test for measuring your driving ability.
Know how to activate almost everything in your car. Turning signals, horn, brake lights, reverse lights, high beams, low beams, know your gears, gas/brake pedals, emergency brake, wipers, ignition, etc.

It helps to supplement your knowledge always so even though I've been driving for a year and have never been involved in an accident, reread your drivers book at the DMV while waiting or at home. Brush up on tips by watching videos the night before like I did. Learn how to parallel park properly since most people dread it. It's very simple if you fully understand how to reverse AND most importantly have GOOD spatial awareness which provides you with the ability to judge distance of the space you want to occupy and the approx. length of your vehicle. Practice on cones, practice everything!

I don't know how a car with automatic transmission can be a "sweet ride."

But grats bud :^)

I got 10 points docked because the proctor said I didn't check both sides while at a stop sign. Whatever, 30 points is just as good as 0.

I failed my test the first time because I did a "rolling stop".
Which was ridiculous when I came to a complete stop TWICE before I turned at the stop sign that failed me. Ended up getting it on the second try though.
I'm glad we didn't have to know parallel parking for my test because I didn't learn how to parallel park until I started driving to school. Now I'm better at parallel parking than normal parking.

i basically haven't parallel parked since i got my license 3+ years ago. i hate parallel parking. i don't live in a big urban area so i never really have to. 'cept when i went to chicago once. this was so significant i had to take a picture. look how far away form the curb i am LOL. thankfully i have a small car. (but no power steering which makes it a lil more challenging) i think i actually parkd better than the guy behind me though.

oh ya i passed first time, but i didn't get my license until i was almost 20 because i was scared. now i love driving. and i also learned to drive manual.

when i did it the tester had put a tiny stop sign on the gate of the testing place, but the gate was in open position so you couldnt see it. so i failed as i started because apparently there was a stop sign there.
I went with my sister and as we were crossing the cross walk, this car I guess didn't want to stop. So I raised my hands like, wth. So my sister goes in and does her test and stuff and this girl comes up to me and starts yelling. She's like, 'YOU made me fail my test!' lol Turns out her instructor failed her for failing to yield at a cross walk. I laughed pretty hard at that.

ot: Congrats.
i hit the curb today while parallel parking but did it so gently that the proctor didnt notice ayyyy
Wow, nice job. I wonder if you were the guy who tested before me. I saw him hit the curb while trying to parallel and nonchalantly drove it off. no f's given.
