Does feedback Really matter?
Do you actually check people's feedback when they're bidding on your stuff?
What about before you bid on theirs?
Bonus question: what are the deciding factors?

This is an auction site? 0.o
I ask other bidders-sellers to exchange positive feedback when It's been half a week before feedback ending and I have 100% positive feedback. not that it really matters since the feedback they leave you will only show up when you leave them feedback.
To me feedback matters alot because it determines if I will buy/sell to that person. My rules when it comes to feedback are,
1)Never sell an item to a person with feedback below 90%
2)Never buy an item from someone with a feedback below 80% unless I have spoken to them before the auction is over and have come to terms.
3)Never buy items from a person with a large amount of recent negative feedback even if their overall feedback is still above 90%.
Of course sometimes I have to also look at the people who give negative feedback to my potential buyers/sellers because some people give negative feedback for the heck of it and others make mule accounts to increase feedback.
I think it matters. It helps you recognise whether they're reliable traders. If I do happen to bid on an item owned by someone that has low feedback then I just allow myself to get outbid by someone else. It depends how many negatives (I'll check neutrals too) and the comments. I also look at whether the feedback is recent.
I check to see the percentage and the amount of trades done. If the amount of trades done is low, or if the percentage is low, I try to avoid those auctions. Also, if the same person provides most of that account's feedback, I avoid that account due to it proabably being the same person raising his own feedback with a second account.
For me, these are deciding factors:
Positive
-Quick
-Fast
-No issues
Neutral
-Took awhile but they had a reason (but probably a made up reason)
-The timing just didn't work out and the trade wasn't done
Negative
-These people that just try to negotiate AFTER the auction has ended and you find them... they piss me off so much
-People that never respond to PM's, buddy invites, or whispers in game
-People who notice you, but purposely ignore you in game with the reason, "I've found a higher bid"
Always, both game and real life.
I even take the feedback i get from my companies serious, that helps me improve the whole system and make more money.
I check people's feedback on both situations especially for items that are expensive.
Communication is also important. When I auction an item worth hundreds of millions or over a billion mesos, I will PM the bidders and ask if their offer is serious. If they don't reply back before the auction ends, I will take it as they won't buy it for the price they offered, and I will just remove their bids and delete the auction. That way I will avoid days or even weeks of waiting for a buyer who will never show up.
So in my opinion, the deciding factors are feedback rating and communication.
Through my experience of trading with Basilers, I will say majority of them are trustworthy and able to complete trades within a time frame.
I usually check.
I think removing a bid or not bidding on an item simply based on the feedback is an awful idea.
If these people can't trade, they won't be able to improve their feedback, so it ends up in an infinite loop.
I just check to see if i should buy from this guy or if hes just a troll/ a terrible person (only check % , if its below like 75% i read the feed back)
Only if the person has like, 100 transactions and is still 0%.
it matters if your selling alot of things its give people validity to buy things from you and that you wont give false bids and you wont lead people long
@infinitiate: Aha, no worries. I totally understand that they've got other stuff going on, just felt like venting a little I guess. I would never leave negative feedback so long as I get the item I want.
Yeah I think it matters because you don't want to have 30% feedback because that may cause people not to buy/sell from you.
I have a 100% feedback, although I don't think it matters.
But, it is sort of frustrating when someone with a 100% feedback rate decides to fool around when you're buying something from them. >.< I'm kind of in a situation like that right now. I track this person several times a day, but they're never on. I've sent them countless PMs on basil, but get no reply either.
I've been in that situation before, but there are times when the person legitimately has a reason for not replying/responding. Usually it has something to do with making a bid or having their bid won/sold, and then needing to be somewhere else or doing something more important (school, work, vacation, etc.). Try your best to keep calm though, and only leave negative feedback when you absolutely have no other choice.
The situation I was in... I was very close to leaving them negative feedback and they ended up contacting me within the last day. They were out of the country for a bit, so I decided not to give them negative.
I have a 100% feedback, although I don't think it matters.

I do all the time to check if they are real feedback and not some account they made up to feedback the main account. Also because I sell A lot and I don't like random people buying my stuff than never contact me back while I hold their item for like a week -.-
i do some times
