So I asked this girl something I shouldn't have

I asked her to the school dance yesterday and my friend (lets call her Kiwi) came out of the blue with my sister. This made it extremely awkward and I didn't want to do it anymore so I decided to just dip but before I could Kiwi called her over and said "SANTI here wants to ask you something!" At this point I knew I was pretty much screwed over. I then decided to out with it and asked her to go to the dance with me which she then blushed got quiet and asked me to turn around and to 'not look at her like that'.
I knew that this was the end and that I should just walk away. She politely told me no and I said "Well thats okay" and tried my best to smile and walk away.

My friend Kiwi and my sister looked at me and asked me what she had said and I told them everything. They were like "Aww D:" and I just laughed and brushed it off my shoulder until I got home like 10 minutes later. I got a [3] long message (stupid text limits >.&gt of her telling me that she liked me but not in that way and that I embarrassed her because Kiwi and my sister were there. I told her the entire truth that I was going to ask her when we were alone but they had come out of the blue and then I asked if we can stay friends and hopefully become even better friends. She then told me "Allrighty! " And I was kind of happy.

But then today I saw her at school and all I could muster up was a "Hi" and a wave. I could tell that its going to be a loongg and awkward friendship now.

And now is when I ask you basil, what should I do next? Should I keep trying to talk to her? Text her? Message her through FaceBook?
