Old School RuneScape anyone?

I stopped playing maple a few months ago after getting a BM and a DK to 140. I used to play OSRS half a year ago and stopped playing because I went off to college. I kinda feel like going back, although I never made friends or had a clan that was fun being in. Does anyone play and would like to make a new friend? I'm still deciding whether I should pay the subscription fee or not and that depends on me finding friends to play with.

Not anymore tho. It just feels so different now. I remember getting freaked out in the Stronghold of Security, the special events, selling coal, Duel Arena, getting murdered by a mage in the wildy and lost my ad armours...
I'd say the good times were before the Grand Exchange and after the PvP restrictions were lifted (until EoC).

I remember World 3 pre-Grand Exchange. Man, Falador and Camelot (the area to the left of Camelot, actually) used to be THE place for merching. It was a wonderful clusterfrick and I still have the same Abyssal Whip I bought back in the day at 1.8m in Camelot.

Runescape 3 is indeed a horrible game. I don't like at all, I tried playing it and I managed to get all 3 combat skills to level 30 at the same place, level 5 trolls. wtf? Anyways, OSRS is worth it, even if it means starting over. I started over and within 2 months I got to level 70ish combat, 60 att, 70 str, 45 def, 60 range, 43 magic, 52 prayer, and 50+ on most non cb skills. It's fun to be honest and going back to OSRS brought back nice memories. Give it a shot, it's only 7-8 dollars for one month of membership that allows you to play OSRS.
I just read the EoC article on the RS website, and it seems like Jagex wants to bring back the legacy combat system in conjunction with EoC's mechanics. Seems pretty interesting; I might actually come back if Jagex doesn't completely overhaul everything like they do every 10 months.
Oh wow, I was not expecting this after only 2 years. Guess they really are losing too much business. Though they're only bringing back the old system and not removing EoC, so I don't know if this will be enough.

It's a start at least, but they still have a long way to go if they want to repair the community they destroyed when they first released EoC.
Old Runescape is dead, and restarting in RS07 just isn't worth the time and effort it takes unless Jagex has made an option to transport your old Runesacpe account into RS07.

It's disappointing how stubborn Jagex can be sometimes. First with removing the wilderness back in 2007, then the trade limits and the dual arena limits, and finally Evolution of Combat. It took 4 years for Jagex to bring back the wilderness, and they only brought it back because so many people had quit. I'm afraid Runescape might be gone by the time Jagex realizes they need to remove EoC.

i never got into pvming due to my melee stats. i made pretty much all of my money from merching. made around 30-50m a day from a couple minutes of work in the ge. a couple days ago jagex talked about something called "legacy mode." i haven't looked into it much, but it's rumored to bring back some of the pre eoc aspects to rs3. still wouldn't be worth coming back for, though.

@GreatBolshy: Tell me about it. I miss old RS so much; if I could transfer my current account to RS07 servers, I would.

I spent so much time in the God Wars Dungeon farming for gear, spent weeks in the wild training with Ancient Magic, and it was Barbarian Assault for days.

I honestly miss old RuneScape a lot; RS3's combat style is way too different, and there's no way in hell I'm starting all over again in the RS07 servers.

Now that you mention RS, I really want to play the Barbarian Assault mini-game. I used to play it all the time, and got into the top-10 in every single role, including Defender.
runescape in early 2012 was the best imo. no eoc, no word of eoc, none of that. i spent hundreds of hours turning my account into a mage tank pker with that storm of armadyl spell but eoc came before i could use it. ended up deciding i'd quit the game because of eoc coming soon so i just staked away my 1b and quit

i used to bounce back between runescape and maple for a couple years then finally at 8th grade i got bored of runescape and just moved to maple (which i've taken multiple breaks from, but that's beside the point).
