Spot on right here. They drop you right into some heeavvyyy exposition in the first 10 seconds. But the action and art style are good enough, and I'm really digging the character designs.
Hopefully Masami makes some more appearances

Phantom Blood picks up about episode 3? PB seems to be a hit or a miss at times. I personally liked it, but I can understand why people might not be drawn to it. However, it's only 9 episodes long. Battle Tendency is definitely way more exciting.

Stardust Crusaders is a bit long and watching the first half of it in a short time will probably get boring, as it follows the whole ... uhhh how do you put it again? Monster of the week? Enemy of the week? That type of thing. It's kind of typical shonen format. The second half is better, that's for sure. It's just... long. And luckily it's the only part that follows the format I mentioned. After this, it's no more picking off pointless enemies in search of a big bad.

Of course, not to say that SDC isn't fun nonetheless. Plus a lot of the end battles are great. It just definitely has it's ups and downs and might seem like a bit of a drag to some people, especially people who are new to the series.

@bluebomber24: i agree on both of those, if only bc Death Parade ep 1 was the exact same thing as Death Billiards but also had a really stale story and no impact on me as a viewer. i do see a lot of potential in the show and it's got great production values so...it's probably a lock for one of the better shows. Ass Class was extremely boring and lacked humor, while not standing out in terms of animation or acting. i give it a pass bc i know the manga has good material to adapt...but everybody itt raving about it seems crazy to me.

you should definitely give JoJo a few episodes to settle in. the first season starts kinda weak but is absolutely amazing once episode 9 (or 10?) hits, up until the end at 26. the current season is very different and i'd say it kinda goes up and down in quality, if only because some fights aren't as interesting as others.

I found the first episode of Death Parade to be luke warm. I rated it about the same as Ass Class; not great but good enough to keep watching.

Also, on Jojo, my borther was raving about it so I watched the very first episode and wasn't drawn to it; does it get better?

@Irony: honestly i didn't have high hopes for Binan, but it was great and had very weird humor with great execution. if you end up not liking the humor there's no reason to watch though, and i know a couple people on other forums just didn't find any appeal in the jokes.

Rolling Girls - it had a pretty shaky first episode. there's a ton ton ton of exposition that makes no sense and kind of detracts from the awesome animation/action. however that animation and the premise/tone are strong enough that it definitely deserves a 3 episode test to see if things pick up.
Yuri Kuma Arashi - this just isn't a very good Ikuhara show imo. the characters barely exist and tbh the sexuality is a little too over the top to the point that it's offputting. episode 2 didn't really make things clearer or less thinly-veiled sexual (and there's some r*p* subtext in the show too) so i have seen a lot of people say they plan to drop this.
Death Parade - it's hard to tell exactly what this is going to be yet. if you've seen Death Billiards, the first episode was basically the same idea but with darts and a married couple. the end and preview make it seem like the show will focus on the staff of the bar in the afterlife rather than being 100% games, which i think it necessary so the show doesn't get old fast. best OP this season.
Junketsu no Maria - this was a really lowkey fantasy show. they've set up a couple relationships between Maria and humans and also brought up politics between villagers/witches/the church and also between witches from the warring countries. the first episode probably won't sell you on the show, even with a cool action setpiece at the end, but it's the sort of thing that made me want to do a 3 episode test to see where it goes.

cinderella girls

in more detail since i havent seen any discussion on them. apparently rolling girls wasn't that good, but i dont know. some people here are saying it's good

I really wouldn't watch Binan Koukou but i'll give it a go @deciduous since ur giving it tons of praise
and yeah i also really liked those 2 shows actually

I wanted to thank each of you individually but surprisingly got a lot of great responses this thread... thanks again everyone, im taking all ur posts into consideration
