So I have a maid

I moved to the Philippines a few months ago to finish college here, and to have some experience in my home country. But yeah after living alone in an apartment for about 2 years and doing everything myself and trying to keep my place clean, I move here and my extended family that I'm living with is pretty well off so I have a maid. Its not like, the kind of maid that only comes once in a while to clean your house(she lives with us), but its not a french maid in a lacey dress either (sadly). I dunno, it was a big step for me to get used to, because i was used to doing everything. Washing my own clothes, cleaning my place, cooking my food, etc. But now its like all i do is study and come home and do nothing and it kind of bothers me. Its kind of like im becoming dependent since i never have to cook or clean or wash my own clothes

Right now shes ironing my clothes and i feel as though I've forgotten how to do that too.

So...anyone else's family have a maid?

I have had 3 different maids, all from the Philippines. So far, they all sucked harddd (has nothing to do with them being filipino though)

I thought having maids in the Philippines was fairly common. Closest thing to a maid is my mom, and even then I help her out, I don't feel like one person should have to do all the cleaning whether they're being paid or not. House work should be a family thing in my opinion.

the idea of someone doing everything for me is such a turn off. Let alone I hate it when people touch my stuff without me in the room

I'm also from the Philippines but moved here to the America 5 years ago and I miss it.
OT: When I was still in the Philippines I had 3 maids and they were my friends and every day they would buy me taho and fishballs(and no it's not what you guys think it is).

I have a maid. Her name is Mom.

LOL I wish. I don't do anything in my own house but a maid could be cool.

my family used to have a maid, her main job was to look after my little brother because my parents were never around, then after that she would just do the cooking and cleaning for us, now unfortunately she's gone because she got accepted into some nursing school
In the part of the Philippines where I am from, we don't have maids (or noone does) but I know what that's like. There's still things to do, you could always color-code your closet. Rearrange your room or ask if you could help?
Funny you'd mention color coding the closet, because i did that about a week ago hahaha. Yeah i help her when i have the time , but its nothing compared to living alone. She takes pride in it as a career and insists that its her job to take care of the household, she is getting paid for it afterall, so she doesnt mind doing everything.

I would hate myself for hiring or allowing a maid to do my households.

I live by myself as well. And to some extent I wish I had a maid.

I never considered my Mom my maid. I guess its cause she was a business woman and was never home like my dad, so me and my siblings were used to doing things around the house. Except mowing the lawn. Lol

I have a maid. But I don't do anything regardless so she's quite beneficial to me. :]
