Need advice about transferring Highschools as a sophomore

So my pal just moved schools during his sophomore year, he had to transfer because the curriculum at his former high school wasnt satisfactory.
He was also bullied at his former school, and his friends told him off for moving schools. So he's sort of stuck on an island now.
He is shy and insecure about his weight, so approaching new people is going to be tough, though once you get to know him he's a blessing to have around.
His only worry is that if he approaches someone, he will mess up, and you know, tumbling in a downward spiral.

Much advice is needed! fire away!

Lose weight. Being over weight isn't permanent. Something can be done about it. Start lifting and gain some confidence. Bam problem solved something as easy as putting forward effort. I know plenty of fat people that still make friends, get attractive females. It doesn't have to do all with appearance. Personality and confidence definitely are a big part of it.

Don't listen to sojin about being friends with teachers and secretaries. You will have plenty of time to make friends with old people when you are old. For now enjoy your youth. You are only young for one small period of your life. The rest of it you are old.

Oh same, I transfered into a different high school my sophomore year (transfered twice to different schools during my fresh/sopho yr) as well. I was really insecure about my weight and just about everything really.

Transferring into a new high school is rough. People are in their own group/cliques and sometimes it's hard to enter into their circle. Maybe he could try to join a club or sport of his interest? He'll definitely make friends if he really tries. Awkward at first? Yes, but it's totally worth it. Oh, and tell him to be friends with the teachers/secretaries bc yeah, idk.

Just go on naturally. I transferred when I was a junior. It might get lonely for you during lunch and whatnot, but after a couple days/weeks you'll be great.
