Advice on shipping a computer
So i'm about to move to Texas from Washington State, so i can't really drive there myself.
I'm not sure if its safer to ship UPS ground or check in my computer in a box on the plane.
I've seen a couple pictures of destroyed computers( http://imgur.com/a/438hC/ ) that were shipped by UPS ground so I'm thinking of shipping it by plane.
But also my computer is somewhat old, and it's past it's use i suppose so i guess i could buy a new one over there, but besides that, does anyone have experience with shipping their computer by plane?
And yes I'm going to disassemble it.

Is it a custom PC? Like you know how to assemble and disassemble it and stuff? If so, just take out the parts and put them in the static-free plastic bags and just put them in your carry on. Ship the case alone or put it in luggage and put some clothes in it or something for more room.
@iyours:
Bubble wrap and a cloth lining the sides. Since I've had my laptop slide out of the bubble wrap a few times during bagging :x
I would just individually wrap everything in bubble wrap.
If you don't want to damage your case be sure to use foam. Not too soft but not too hard. If it's too hard, the foam has a better chance of cracking making the foam useless. If it's too soft, it won't absorb enough impact. Thick foam at the corners if possible since those will be the weakest points. Then use anything else to protect it.
Well I have done both and I can say by plane is less of a hassle well less of a hassle overall. Only issue I had with UPS ground
is them coming at times I wasn't home and the last time they left it outside no signature or anything. Also I get a bit anxious and
start looking at the progress for days I will say for both ways, I haven't had any property destroyed so up to you.
how did you pack your computer? did you use bubble wrap? foam peanuts? styrofoam blocks? shock absorbing bags? crumpled up paper?
man that was a pretty funny walk through.
