Shadower

Should I let my Guide die?

Hey guys,

So I am the creator of the current Shadower guide here in Basil. I constantly read posts or comments saying that my Guide is outdated, etc. Most of the time argue that it is not really quite outdated but that won't hold forever. With the RED update coming soon (probably?) my Guide will become truly outdated, no buts.
I can try to find sometime during the Winter break to update my Guide to the RED update. The problem is that I am NOT coming back to MapleStory anytime soon, if ever. I haven't played Maple Story in a really long time due to both being bored of it and having little to no free time (yay last year of Engineering...). Therefore I don't know if I should give you guys a half-assed Guide (with no gameplay experience of the new skills) or let my Guide die already so someone else can take over as the official Shadower Guide creator. What do you all think?

-Andres.

SB gives iframes currently?

Take a look at this if you haven't already. Would make training/mobbing a lot easier imo.
Honestly, I don't mind the 'nerf'. It's only a nerf in damage (less hits?) but better utility now, so I wouldn't call it a nerf. Never really used it much in 4th job anyways.
Mostly spammed Assassinate against bosses. Same after RED I guess. Oh yeah there's the savage blow change. I wonder if SB will still have iframes...

It is actually VERY bad for mobbing post-RED. It does 25 hits TOTAL no matter way. So if you have multiple mobs (say 8) the coins go around like 3 per mob which is a joke in damage. Right now it does 15 hits to ALL mobs in it's range so it is by FAR much much better. Believe me, unless you train in low HP Mobs (like the videos you linked), ME is going to suuck for mobbing post-RED.

@aaronthecow: Is there a way to xfer Guides?

@SunsetChaos: ME changed ALOT. I don't know even know how it works anymore, it seriously looks super super nerfed. Anyway how can I give skill builds if I don't even know the new Shadower gameplay. I can crunch number and stuff but without gameplay it will be half-assed.

Don't just flat out like have it disappear. Pass it on to someone else. If most stuff can stay relatively the same, it becomes a matter of maybe copy and pasting skills to new sections and changing some stuff.
Whoever you pass it on too can use the layout and other stuff that's already done in the current guide.

Why would any guide creator keep their guide going if they don't even play Maple anymore?

If you really don't want to, just pass the torch. Anyways, shadowers don't change much in RED compared to other classes. The only thing I can think of is ME in 3rd job, so maybe get that and pickpocket early for easier mobbing. Everything else is pretty much the same and they'll all end up being maxed anyways.
Besides, people mainly just look at the skill builds, what to max etc. The insights on gameplay and stuff can be provided from fellow experienced shadowers.

I can update it if necessary.

@Brawlrulez: It has never "benefited" me per say. It was just one of those things that I did that people seemed to use and enjoy so I took some pride (not really but can't find a better word) on it. Also it started a long time ago (it was initially done before the Big Bang to get people ready for it) so I guess it would be kinda sad-ish to see it die away.

@KiritoSAO: Ideally if I had all the time in the world I would keep it up to date and play the game enough just to have gameplay experience with the new skills. Sadly, this is not the case.

So it seems like the vast majority would like someone else to step up and make one (64%). So I think is settled, I won't update it and just hope someone makes one and puts as much effort into it as I did when I began.

Who even looks at skill builds now.. In 4th job you end up maxing everything and previous job attacking skills are barely used (in most cases).

If you don't have much time for it, then I'll wait for a someone else's up-to-date guide

Pass it on to someone else.

Ask yourself this: Do I (you) benefit from keeping this guide?

I think most people just look at the guide for a skill build which shouldn't take very long to update after RED.

If you are unable to properly update your guide it would indeed be better if someone with more ingame experience of the (revamped) class makes a new one.

Yea you probably should just leave it be. Someone will step up and make an updated guide and takeover, it's really not exactly a big deal, and if anything it is a pain in the ass redoing the guide every time a freakin revamp comes and flips it all over. I know cause I have to keep updating my Paladin guide </3
