The Damage Cap

Hi everyone,

I'd like to know, what would be the maximum potential damage of a character if there was no damage cap? Because Nexon has always been increasing the damage cap, from 100k to 200k, then to 1m and now 50m. 1m to 50m is a big jump... but it has been achieved by some players in a really short period of time. It's just that I find it ridiculous to see these huge numbers, will Nexon be increasing the cap like forever? o.o

maximum damage in 1 hit lets see...
angelic busters can hit 100m.... if well funded....
add the one chaos boss spin mode double damage...

right now with cap in place it would be possible to do a little over 200m damage from 1hit/ 1line of damage

now im pretty sure right now at least its possible for every class to hit their damage cap... be it 50m (or 100m for angelic busters)
with what gear were have now scrolling system and what not... hard to say

but class that needs the least amount of funding to hit damage cap would be the class that can hit the most in 1line of damage (if their was no damage cap)
factoring in classes that can do multiple lines would be alot harder to say...

@TripleBladez: I actually forgot about the buff part. That was completely my slip up, my apologies for that stupidity. I wasn't thinking about leaving the party, then changing out people.

@Spyro: It's a party skill, but it's also a buff (like Haste for example), so you can leave your party (and the effect will still stay), and have the other parties standing in wait ready to cast it. It's common sense, really. If you want to dumb it down even further, it's like the old days of Zak and HT where if you were killed in an attacking party, you could just leave, join a support party where the Bishop would use Resurrection, and leave to re-join the attacking party again.

@TripleBladez: Isn't the Hyper skill a party effect skill? That's why I said 80m, you can only have 6 people in your party.

Edit: Just checked, it is definitely a party skill. The cap remains at 80m, unless of course, Shadower or Marksman, which are clearly exceptions with their self-increasing skills.

Marksmen have a hyperskill that allows them to do 400m damage with snipe.

@Spyro: You can go much higher than 80m on an Adventurer. There's 15 Adventurer classes, so 50m + (15 * 5) = 125m for most Adventurers excluding classes with cap increasing skills like MM and Shad. The trouble would be finding all 15 classes that are 200+.

There's a guy in my alliance that hits 70m per line on any boss. It's a NL, he uses the damage cap boosting Hyper skills you get as Adventurers, and stacks it. Realistically, WITH the current damage cap, the max anyone can hit would be 80m, assuming they have 6 adventurers in their party all casting that skill. It increases your damage cap by 5m per skill, so 5 x 6 = 30, 30+50 = 80, you know. He hasn't tried going higher, but I'm sure he could hit the 80m cap on at least most bosses. So I hope that gives you an idea. Without the cap, I'd think people could potentially hit about 100m or so with current equips.

I think 6+ digit numbers are boring. Giving 5 yr old looking pixels money funded equips to do 1000x more damage than regular stuff. Playing this game, people will exploit their way in, there's little enjoyable free2play effort

Yeah they will be increasing it constantly. If the game was balanced, they wouldn't make any money.
Doesn't really matter anyways; once MS2 comes out, this will die off.

Max damage of any class per line would be marksmen. The godliest marksmen (no one specifically) could probably hit 2b+ damage with snipe on a low pdr boss with no physical resist. I mean if someone can hit 400m damage on a 300% PDR + Physical resist boss (Chaos Vellum), that would be at-least double on something like zakum. Now add every stackable buff like ADA (25% attack/damage/multiplier not sure but it does a lot) lv 3 AB link, just every buff, and 2b wouldn't even surprise me from a character that solo caps on C Vellum.

Depends on how frequently they decide to release new equips honestly and how far they want to revamp things.

Jett used to be considered OP. Ain't that a blast from the past? Where are they now? Last place in DPS.
Every job just relatively hits higher. There aren't really "OP" jobs in my opinion because they are all buffed up. Each job has pros and cons and because they're all stronger, basically, Nexon revamped it so that everyone naturally hits higher numbers. A tactic to encourage people to spend more and to keep playing.
