Where do I get my ores refined?

I'm a pre-BB vet and I've recently come back. I need to get a steel plate for a quest and I have steel ores but apparently no NPC refines ores anymore and you have to be a miner/smither to do it yourself (I'm a herbalist/alchemist). So um.. how am I supposed to get a steel plate? I don't feel like looking for one in the FM.

Lady as I told you, talk to your perk npcs ( Herbilst npc and Alchamist npc's) then choose 'unlearn profession' and Nak the material guy sells ores that vary from 5k~10k mesos.

EDIT: Alchamist can make really strong potions at high level that increase INT + 70 for 2 hours or something and make pots that recover 7000+ HP/MP, while with smithing you can make armour and weapons or rings and belts.

Unlearn both of your current perks, learn mining and Armour smithing/Accessory crafting, then talk to nak the material merchant. He sells most ores and plants except for the rare ones like crystals. Then do the little tutorial on how to smelt and their you go

Quit alchemy and herbalism by talking to the npcs and select mining instead.

It's really easy to level up herbalism/alchemy/mining/smithing/jeweller now if you waste some money

Or just do it on an alternate character.
