Would like opinions on my upcoming build?

So with Haswell and Nvidia's new stuff coming out I'm spending a good chunk of change on a stronger PC since with Xbox One/PS4 games will be able to be produced better for consoles, so PC will get some extra love in terms of graphics too, which means I'm gonna start dropping frames if I want to play on max settings.

DISCLAIMER: I am spending money on asthetics here as well as preformance, I want a nice themed PC so I am as much in love with looks as preformance. (Black & White theme)

Before I start I have a few question, is the preformance I am going to get out of an i7 and the hyperthreading going to help enough in gaming to warrant an extra 100 dollars? Or will an i5 do me fine considering I'm only doing gaming with some minor coding/compiling on the side. (I do plan to OC). Second question, my current PC has 2 harddrives, one with OS/programs and one with files and such, can I just take out the HDD with files and no OS/installed programs and put it into my new PC without formatting it? So I can keep any important pics/documents without having to buy an external HDD or anything? Also, is 8 GB of RAM too little for the calibre of the system I want to buy?

As for GPU I am undecided yet, I know my Mobo has SLI as an option, and my PSU should have plenty of wattage for it, howevr I am not sure wether I should SLI 2x lower level cards (760 Ti maybe ?) or pick up one 770 Is the difference in preformance between one 770 and 2 760Ti's going to be worth the large extra purchase? I hear many games don't take full advantage of the power in SLI/CrossfireX. Also, if anyone knows of any White ish shielded Nvidia 700 series cards in production I'd love to fit it in with the theme.

Thanks for answers my few questions, and checking over my stuff, this will be my 3rd build technically, but my first full personal computer build, so it's mah baby.
GPU: Completely undecided yet

I'm running Sandy Bridge right now i5, non-OC edition. And 2 monitors currently off a 560Ti, I'm picking the Switch because it has goood room for the H110 Rad, and the window yeah, I'm gonna keep the H110's stock fans, and use the 2(?) it comes with as well I guess, I'll likely still pick up a few white-blade fans. If I wasn't going for a B/W theme I'd be using Noctuas probably. I guess I'll rock a 770 or 780 then!

I assume this to mean AAA titles.

Like Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge, gamers won't see benefits from the i7-4770K's additional threads over the i5-4670K. Overclocking Haswell processors is also unpredictable mostly as a result of the integrated voltage regulator.

In my opinion, Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge users won't need to upgrade to Haswell. Most of the notable improvements to Haswell's microarchitecture were aimed at mobile computing and not desktops.

Yes. Yes. No.

8 GB is realistically too much for the PC gamer, but is the de facto norm because $40-50 is a reasonable price for RAM.

I'm assuming the biggest reason why you are considering at the NZXT Switch is because of its window. That's fine, though I see absolutely no reason to replace the already included fans with the FZ-140mm - they confer no real benefit over the stock fans. The front two fans are completely blocked out of sight by the front panel and so my recommended course of action is to move the rear 140 mm to the front and mount nice looking fans everywhere else that is visible.

These are my preferred "good-looking" fans and the twin-pack is competitive with the NZXT FZ fans. Corsair Airflow fans have become popular on red/black builds that don't use red LED fans, or need a high pressure radiator fan: http://www.canadacomputers.com/search_result.php?keywords=&manu=CORSAIR&search=1&ccid=130&cPath=8_130&x=37&y=12&pagePos=0

Avoid multi-GPU setups if you're using a single monitor. Current generation GPUs are powerful and there is no good reason to deal with multi-GPU problems that can be completely avoided with a single card.

There are video cards with black/silver/gray colors from MSI and EVGA.

@DatNewNew Mhm, totally a workout thread in the Non-MS tech section.. Genius.

@thedylan consololol enjoy 60fps

@Alex9888 the OCing is easier with Haswell, base clock can be changed etc. which is why I'm going Haswell. Also, no 760 is not out, but the build won't be for a couple months still

@HastyHeist if I'm running a fan controller, 3 hdds, and 2 GPUs I will need a minimum 700

@AirForce1 I use Sony Vegas, BF3, and most higher end games (Metro, Bioshock etc) also you probably have a 660ti since the 700 series only has the 780 and 770 so far to my knowledge

It would help if we had a rough idea of what games/programs you intend to use on a regular basis.

I can at least say that I'm using a single 760 Ti and can run every game I've tried on max. I'm honestly not sure what the point would be in going higher unless you're doing GPU computing. As for SLI/crossfire, most games do not take advantage of it. There's a lot of potential for games to improve in this area, but I don't honestly see them doing it anytime soon. The game corps have to appeal to the (filthy) casuals so there's no real marketability there. I'd say save the money, but that's just me.

As for i5 vs i7, I'll bow out to more knowledgeable people. I will say that I'm running an i5 760 and it's been great for gaming or anything else. The 3rd gen i5 should be more than adequate for your needs.
