Needs urgent help on math
I take algebra 1, and i really need help with this problem i cant solve </3! I have a test tomorow and if someone could walk me through just one it would help alot
Heres the problem : A collection of 40 dimes and nickels is worth $2.90. How many nickels are there?
Here are my steps:
10(40-n) + 5n = 290
400 - 10n + 5n = 290.
what do i do next? if i subtract 400, im in the negatives. Help please!

Um just isolate the variable on 1 side and the constant on the other. Do you still not know how to solve a linear equation?
