Question about Dual-Channel Memory

Is it possible to put:

A1: Channel One Slot One
4GB

B1: Channel Two Slot One
8GB

A2: Channel One Slot Two
4GB

B2: Channel Two Slot Two
8GB

for a total of 8GB in Channel One and 16GB in Channel Two for 24GB Total RAM?
Will this work?

Or with the 16GB in ch1 and 8GB in ch2? Does that make a difference either?

I need to find out, this is going to influence the RAM I buy.
