Oh, I thought it was to pander to all the Americans that wanted to play Castanics/Elins
That too. But En Masse created a chart of class/race/gender:

Warrior 40,352
Slayer 36,308
Archer 35,276
Sorcerer 35,002
Berserker 28,880
Lancer 25,073
Priest 24,612
Mystic 24,497

Races:
Castanic 57950
Human 47,283
High Elf 43,930
Elin 35,973
Aman 29,960
Popori 22,267
Baraka 12,637

Sex:
Male 110,801
Female 139,199

There were a lot less females than I expected. I mean I know the girl-guy ratio is probably around 3 to 1 (well, based on the people in my guild it is, and we use mumble [same as ventrilo] so it's clear who's a GIRL and who's not).

But still, I thought there'd be like, 200k females and 50k males.

Anyways, you didn't get into CBT but you realize they gave out like, tens of thousands of codes through websites and stuff? You'd have to like them on Facebook to get instant feed, but these CBT codes run out fast; like 10k codes in a couple of hours fast. They're still spewing out codes like crazy, so if you want to try it, just look at their FB. Open beta is free to play anyways, so you can always wait until then.

I might buy Diablo III...more likely I'll buy GW2 instead though.
But didn't TERA tank in Korea?

I'm still butthurt at the fact I didn't get into closed beta.
People keep thinking TERA tanked in Korea.
http://www.gamenote.com/rank_ongame/

That's based on popularity in terms of number of connected members / month.

TERA is currently, as of the beginning of March, ranked number 9.
It is currently ahead of MapleStory, Lineage 2, Starcraft 2, and many other prominent titles.

Here's another source
http://www.gametrics.com/rank/Rank02.aspx

TERA isn't as well received in Korea as other games. The reason is not because of bad gameplay, not because of bad service, not because of bad pvp.
There's two reasons
1) There's a lack of a strong end-game. They're constantly releasing and developing new areas, level caps, etc. There are instances being released, and each one holds an end game. The whole game plays on a narrative story. The story isn't even close to being finished yet. It's about a war going on between two sides, and while everyone's busy with the war, the rest of the world is being terrorized by forces that used to be kept in check by the good guys. Main focus would be winning that war. Haven't even gotten to it.

2) There's a lack of a grinder-friendly environment. Almost no monsters can be effectively 1 hit KO'd at all times. In fact, most monsters can take 10 to 15 seconds to kill. Elite monsters (field boss) can take upwards of 20 minutes to kill, and they're abundant, not just 1-spawn. Instances are just instances. Most of your EXP comes from questing. You get a bunch of quests, and you turn them all in. For MMORPGs, Koreans prefer the sit in one location and grind until it's done. They don't want to go back and travel, they don't want to turn in any quests, just enter, grind, and exit (oh that sounded dirty). Westerners treat MMOs differently. They prefer questing, they prefer traveling through large distances, they like marveling at scenery. Which is why TERA would have more success in NA.
Is GW 2 F2P?
Costs 60$ to purchase the game itself and then it's free from there, no monthly fees.

@Herosgate No Diablo 3 is different from Diablo 2, you don't need it in order to play it, just have to buy it for 60$.

@HolyBanish Yeah it's the same for me actually. My brothers computer can run these games fine but I need a computer of my own so I can play with him and our friends. My parents said if I get an SAT score that they're happy with they will give me 600-700$ to build my own computer, I already have a good graphics card that my brother will give me if I build my own since it didn't fit in his computer.

So wait do we need the installment of Diablo II in order to install Diablo III.

Or is it completely separate games?
yeah but that Diablo III will come out on May 15th or roughly... but that is in austraila.. i think Diablo 3 will be out before or atfer.. i really can't say for sure but Blizzard did announce it for truth.. i own all blizzard titles but not some old school like roll N rock racing, Olaf and the lost vikings or something but i own warcraft II and up to SC2 atm
Yeah release date for Diablo is May 15th, already had it pre-purchased for a while now. Pre-Purchase for GW2 though is April 10th and that only gives you access to the beta events they'll be holding, no idea on the actual release date yet.

They wait 11 years for the moment two big games come out.
TERA Online, Guild Wars 2.
Eh I'll be dropping Diablo 3 for GW2 anyways. The game seems more interesting to me and it'll be more fun with friends since I have about 8 of them that are going to play GW2 as well but not D3.

Blizzard and their marketing schemes.
They wait 11 years for the moment two big games come out.
TERA Online, Guild Wars 2.

Then, they smack En Masse and NC Soft in the face with Diablo 3

Yeah I actually quit MS about a month ago, feels so good to be free! Gonna play D3 when it comes out and then switch to GW2 when that comes out. Building a new computer just for these games and so I can play Skyrim on ultra. I lag on my brothers computer on medium settings so I never finished the game.
