How do I get more than 2 professions

More Detail: I am currently a Herbalist and Alchemist. I was wondering how I could get into Smithing or Mining or something. I saw that the requirements needed to make an Intermediate Extractor required to have some kind of Crafting or something. (Making Blue Magic Powders). If I'm wrong, then please clarify.

Ok I have a mule already. I might need to unlearn the profession to gain Crafting/Smithing though.
Make a new character, level it to 30 and make 2nd job. Go to ardentmill learn other 2 professions.
I'm pretty sure everything you need for each separate profession is covered by your own, and possibly backed up by another.
Smithing can get their crystals from extractors.
And if you do actually need something else (like ores for alchemy for some reason), we have to buy them.
Or make a mule.
And no, you can only have two professions.
Powders have a 10% chance to get when you make ores into plates, or turn herbs into... herbs.
Ok, So Alchemist/Herbalists are able to create Blue Magic Powders then? Cause I saw it in action and it said "Crafting"
