More reason to hate the DMV

[*]Did you know that DMV appointments can randomly disappear? You make an appointment 45 days in advance, then check the appointment the day before the exam and it may or may not actually be there.

After calling the DMV to see what the error was, I got a jumble of information from an intern that didn't actually make much sense. All I could make out was something about "Vacation" and "Only one instructor today."

More importantly though

[*]Did you know that, 135 days after making your first appointment, when you finally get in for taking your driver test, that the instructor can actually fail you for an infraction that doesn't exist?

That's right folks, you can basically be failed on a whim. With nearly no other errors on the test, I was cited for a "critical violation". It made sense until I double checked the Driving Test criteria notebook to find that my violation was nowhere to be found. When I spoke to another instructor, the conversation went something like

"Hey, could you find x for me in here? I want to double check where my mistake was so I don't make it next time."
"Hmm...That's odd, it's not in the handbook. Looks like the instructor made a mistake."
"Oh."
"Nothing you can do about it though, it's already in the system."
"My test was five minutes ago. Can I speak to a manager?"
"She WAS the manager. You'll have to make another appointment and retake the test. Looking at your results, you'll definitely pass."

So yeah. That's a bummer. I'd complain about it, but there's literally no option on the website or through phone to complain about service.

She left. I'd have stayed around if
A) I knew when she'd be back
B) I hadn't made the appointment for somewhere approximately 60 miles away and over a bridge. (God forbid there be an open slot anywhere near my house).

That sounds depressing, I made my appointment yesterday. My friend failed his first time, because there was a lady standing on the sidewalk (in the middle of the sidewalk) and it seemed like she was thinking whether or not she should cross. She made no signs other than just standing there.
