Thief Guide Throw Away - Let's get some guides stickied!

'Sup guize, plz dun KS me. This is probably Pavchka's territory, but since I made near-duplicate threads in all the other sections I might as well make one here too.

I was talking with B about the whole guide situation, and he agrees that the guides should be way more visible and the old comment system put back into place. The problem? We gotta remove the less used and less updated guides lest they clog up half the forum page with their thick gooey uselessness. We also gotta replace the outdated Pre-BB guides with the brand spankin' new Post-BB guides that I'm sure you've all been cranking out.

I'm generally afraid of being robbed, so I generally don't walk through these streets very often. Any guides you think should be deleted, and any guides you think deserve a spot in the massive sticky section?

The criteria for deletion:
[*]Outdated - Anything Pre-BB fits under this category, UNLESS the owner is still active and plans to update the guide.
[*]No Longer Useful - Guides for things that are no longer necessary or weren't super necessary to begin with. If it's got a tiny bit of use, but a vague purpose? The jury's up, but I'd recommend deleting those types. This is NOT the same as outdated. You can update a useless guide all you want and it'll still be useless. Self Deprecating Example. Don't be afraid to nominate guides or guide concepts that you feel aren't necessary.
[*]Duplicated - We don't need 5 different guides dedicated to the same subject. Find the most in-depth and well organized one and keep that one. Ideally, there should be ONE guide for Thief Skill Builds, ONE damage range thread for all Thieves, and ONE guide for Thief Training. I realize this isn't always possible, but it would make our lives a lot easier, so those guides would get priority assuming they're still awesome. If we can cut those down to size, it gives us a lot more leniency when it comes to the more lucrative guides, such as the ones about Bandit techniques and FAQs.

The criteria for stickies:
[*]Good. - No seriously. If it's clear, makes sense, and logical, it's a good guide. I trust the Class Section Veterans when it comes to creating and identifying awesome guides. You don't need guidance here. No guides that fit the criteria? Make one. Here's your chance for a nearly guaranteed sticky -- assuming it doesn't suck.

Select Outdated guides will likely be archived for Pre-BB players. We'll decide that later, just focus on cleaning what's here and now.

Ok guys, it's been about two weeks. I've got:

Bandit SP
Assassin SP

But we still need a training guide for both, and I don't know the situation on Dual Blades.

@dafid1993 : Haha, thanks for the support on my guide. (: But I will disagree that @orangeking11 's guide for bossing should be left in. Heck, I've gone to it many times to find out if I could go take on Pap when I was in my 10x(Dang bombs kept spawning but I did it after 4 tries at Lvl 106. ). His guide is one that's been around for a long time and I hope it'll be there for a long time to come as well.
No offense, but I don't really think this boss guide belongs in the thief section. i think it should be more General section. There isn't much "thief" too it and if i think its kind of repetitive of the boss section under the monster database. just more friendly looking
Bossing guides are separate as is because of the idea that classes boss differently. There's no mention of Puppeting or any other Bowman strategies in the Sin/Hermit/NL version, as there's no mention of Draining, Dark Sight, or other Claw User strategies in the Bowman version. Plus it helps as a good network to fact check on (IcedFire, the former poster of the Bowman version, and YellowC, the current caretaker of it, are both reliable for this to me). xD

Just looking at Grandpa Boss under the boss database, I'm not sure how a player could tell that he only spams 1/1 attacks. And there's a ton more that can't be told just from looking at monster stats. xD

Hmmm, mysterious. xD

If you don't mind, I "borrowed" 10 dollars from your wallet as you were reading my post. xD

@Kevvl : Well, like I said in a previous post it's still a work in progress. It should be done fairly soon however.

I'm no thief expert, but the layout looks great. A bit more in-depth information on certain skills (namely 4th job) would make the guide more complete, but it's not a necessity.

@Orange - Probably. I actually don't know

Yep, but I was saying it for all guides in general here on Basil. xD

Edit: @Kevvl: Have any guides already been deleted as part of this whole clean up? Was browsing guides earlier and some led to pages like this. xD
Haha, the reason I asked you last night if you would be flushing out the thief section and replacing it with completely new material is because I've been working on this; Assassin/Hermit/Night Lord for quite some time now. It's still not completely done being updated but it's getting there. I have a few more things I'm testing with it but it'll be done soon. Also, as a side note, this guide hasn't been updated since Feb. 23rd, 2010. If it is needed, I won't have a problem rewriting the whole guide to make it updated with Post-BB information.
We're not gonna delete any guides that are being updated. Pretty much all the Archer guides are here to stay, aside from a few that could be updated but aren't necessary anyway.

Oh, a note - Some guides do have a "Last Updated" date of Feb. 28, 2010 at 00:48. That date and time only changes when the user writes in an actually "update" to the little updates log. I totally forgot about that thing. xD

The CB/Shad vs Bosses Guide hasn't been updated since before the guide system was implemented. And the owner is still active on Basil, and doesn't seem to care about it much. It also doesn't include any new skills we have, or how they've changed this year (steal improved, smokescreen improved, etc.). And now that thieves don't have super duper avoidability, some parts of his explanations can't be used anymore. I've never even used it or looked at it thoroughly until just a few minutes ago, and I've killed most of those bosses near the suggested levels... It wasn't a useful guide before, it's even less useful now, and I'd put money on saying it's not gonna be updated . I'd say wipe it.

Lol xD

I don't know the latest on the CB/Shad vs Bosses guide, but the author just hasn't updated it even one bit since February. I'm slowly updating the Sin/Hermit/NL version [now with more pics!] and I know YellowC's doing her best to gather info for the Bowman one, so it's a bit disappointing when a fellow bossing guide is just so far behind. xD

That's going to be bothersome but yeah, stickied later. :] When things are less intense.
@x3Ren - If it's in-depth, now's the best time to finish it and have it stickied.

You must've stopped before reading the second sentence.

We already have plans to make the guides more visible. What I need now are specific guides to be stickied and old guides that aren't being updated to be removed from the main forum list.
I was going to comment on the second sentence of my thread, but I can't even find that in the forum list. Where the hell is that guide? O_o
Either way, it's got graphs and pretty pictures so I know it's good.

Yeah it is weird seeing the guide but no comment. I like it before, it was much better. I always enjoyed reading the comments and see what people have to say. And yeah I also agree that we should replace outdated guides with updated one or at least just update the outdate. Well I love my guide to be stickied if possible but only when it's finished. It's an all in one guide for DBs.
