so if I play on my xbox, and my friend uses, lets say youtube on my laptop = me lagging - do I need a better router or better connection?

so if I play on my xbox, and my friend uses, lets say youtube on my laptop = me lagging - do I need a better router or better connection?

Everything that uses the Internet SHARES the same connection to the Internet. If one person does something that takes a lot of bandwidth like watching YouTube videos, it slows everyone else in the same house trying to use the Internet.
If you want your friend to be able to watch videos while you play Xbox without lagging, you need a faster Internet connection with more bandwidth.
Or find a friend who doesn't watch YouTube when you're trying to play.
