Hypocrits? Or just idiots?

There was a post earlier in regards to the Connecticut shooting (i'll link it below), in which he OP decides to make light of the situation by posting a joke. Though I don't condone this joke and I believe it's too soon to be telling jokes like this, the response he got from people on here was ridiculous.

1. Have fun in hell
2. I hope you die in the worst possible way
3. You're a cancer to the community

Jesus, for a generation of kids built upon freedom of speech and expression, you guys sure are quick to kill someone off.

Is this hypocrisy? Or are these people just idiots?

@uiluj4: You say "The Government" like there aren't other governments in the world. Plenty of which do not give freedom of speech to their citizens.

Yes you haven't committed a crime, but go to a U.S army base with the motive to kill soldiers, say "U.S soldiers deserve to die" and see what happens. You've would've almost indefinitely voided your right to freedom of speech. Are you saying since nobody with the power to punish you can hear you saying it that it's ok? So if I rob a bank and nobody sees me it's ok?

You'd rather give everyone the right to threaten to kill eachother than admit that you're a hypocrite and you can't threaten someone's safety while yours is safely intact, how selfless of you. I don't even think you believe half the things you're saying.

@uiluj4: Freedom of speech is a political PRIVILEGE, they're are plenty of places where you can and will be killed for the things you say.

The only thing that makes a bit of since (I've been waiting for you to say it, it's the only debatable thing you've said) is that you assume they don't have the ability to act upon the action of killing him. If they believe it, and have motive to do it, who's to say they won't actually killing him? Unless they were joking...

With you're logic, you could be a radical islamic terrorist in the U.S, go to the White house and say, "The president of the U.S should die in the worst possible way!" Guess how close you'll get to him after that. That no longer falls under the category of free speech.

Edit: @trueatheist gets it

@Crazybass Idk if you're agreeing with me? Because I said I don't condone that behavior and i'm not trying to kill anyone off. Both things you referred to can be pointed at the individuals i'm talking about, not myself.

No one should be condoning that behavior in the first place and if you want to get technical, don't you think you're the one being a hypocrite by trying to kill those who are freely expressing their own opinions?
@TrueAtheist: but they are asking him what if he died. and idc if my family cries i told them don't. do not cry for me.
I never said they would cry, I said they would care.

@uiluj4 Doesn't that get into a grey area of death threats, screaming "fire" in a public place, hate speech, etc?

@uiluj4: Dude, freedom of speech is pretty self explanatory...

You're not even trying to understand what i've posted. All you did was quote Wikipedia and then ask me to explain something i've explained several times, which leads me to believe you're an idiot. It's not the hate, it's the consequence that follows. NOBODY said I don't agree with you but I respect your right to say what you wanted.

It's not what they said, they can say whatever they want. It's the fact that they believe he should be killed for what he said. If they don't believe that they were lying originally, if they're joking they're ironically in the exact predicament of whom they're joking about.

You can't seem to comprehend what i've been saying so there's be no point in trying to explain it to you. Make a new point or i'm locking the thread.

@uiluj4: Duuuude come on... I never said they hate freedom of speech, I said they hate what he freely spoke. "I don't like what you've spoken because I assume you believe it, so you should die". That as i've said 1.5 billion times is in direct contradiction of themselves. If the consequence for what he spoke is death, he can't say it without paying the price of death. Which nulls the free part of the entire arguement.

You hate socialists, cool. Why? Because of the opinion they hold? No, because of what they have said. You have no way of knowing their opinion if they don't say it or express it in some manner. You've heard what they said, now you want them to die.

You're saying you don't mind them speaking, but they should die for what they've spoken? How does that work?

Edit: It's freedom of speech, not freedom of the ability to speak.. what the hell? lol

@uiluj4: You should die for what you posted = If I were to punish you for what you posted you'd be dead = I would have no problem if you were killed for a joke you said.

You're point is assuming that they were merely joking about him dying for his post, and if that's the case, see #2 of my last post. Thank you sir

@uiluj4: Maaaan, this is why I try not to post things on this site.

1. I said freedom of speech and expression. "You should die in the worst possible way for posting a joke I don't agree with" is a direct contradiction of Freedom of speech, is it not? You've marginally misconstrued the focal point of this thread. Saying going to hell should be the consequence of the joke he told isn't a critique or an insult.

2. @soggytoast @showamerchant And if they were joking, saying jokingly he should go to hell/kill himself for posting a joke is just as hypocritical. "You told a joke about dead people so i'm going to tell you to die... jokingly of course" Oh the irony

3. Nobody insulted me, why do you keep jumping to conclusion?

This is my last reply to you, I already said i'm not trying to argue with you. Your basis of argument is filled with insinuations and what you feel I "implied".

On the bright side, you've successfully derailed my train of thought. Congratulations.

Something so blatantly rude and pretty unfunny otherwise isn't going to garner positive or respectful feedback, and rightfully so. Unless they're going to seek out the TS and kill him it's not "too much" at all. What kind of reaction were you expecting?

@uiluj4: I never said it works any way in general, so your statement makes on sense.

If you assume that I meant the guy who made the joke should be barred from criticism you're wrong. I'm not trying to argue with anyone, please don't take any of my comments out of context.
1) I don't know who the real idiot is if you think angry children on the internet will kill someone because of a joke.
2) Freedom of speech does not protect you from criticism. If you make a joke about people who died less than 24hours ago, then you should be able to handle judgement from people who don't think it's funny.
Yet teenagers complain about being criticized for early parenthood and the tatoos/clothes they wear. I hear ya

Lol right? I should know better. Nothing on that thread offended me, at all.

I've been here for like 18 months, the psyche of some people on here still amazes me though.
