I need help about my friend?

Hi so I have a friend over in Mexico and these past few months he's dropped eating altogether. All he drinks is water all day and if he even eats like a single piece of food he'll feel physically ill and guilty. He used to be average in weight but now he's very skinny (he hasn't told me his weight so I don't know how underweight he is). He complained to me today that his skin was getting grey and pimply so I suggested he drink more water and slowly start eating nutritious foods otherwise he'd look like this guy on the left and he said his grandma won't buy any food for him. He's not allowed to go outside so he can't buy food for himself. He has a bad relationship with his grandma and mom (they yell at him and hit him sometimes). He's 15 right now but he can't wait to move away from his parents. He used to love food and he ate a bag of doritos and 2 bowls of frosted flakes every day, but now he doesn't even eat? I think he's got an eating disorder because of his parents, but idk much about that so I can't jump to conclusions.
Is this none of my business or should I try and help him somehow? Because I'm pretty sure what his grandma and mom are doing to him is considered abuse and neglect and that's illegal but idk about the laws over in Mexico.
So am I being a prick about this or... ?

@Gyumaru:

You mean why do kids these days feel like they can get so attached to random strangers that they never met before? It'd be one thing if he knew the person and saw them on a regular basis but a friend should not be someone that you have never physically met before. This generation is way too over obsessed with everything digital. It's one thing to talk to someone online then actually go out with them on a date (match. com for adults I guess) but its another thing to have no physical contact with someone ever and just to assume that you know someone. Most people lie on the internet as they can or over exaggerate. You can't be warped and assume that someone that you never met before is a friend. That's not realistic.

Also, the story doesn't add up. There is clearly a piece missing as it sounds very bias/ almost like from a childs point of view. For all we know the kid could be obese and suffer from something like Williams syndrome and not be able to see the big picture.
Sometimes people exaggerate or completely make up stories for attention. I honestly wouldn't get worked up over it as for all you know the kid or 43 year old man is trolling you. Focus on you instead of trying to solve someone's "problems" that you have never met in real life or probably never will meet.
why don't stop being so selfish? i swear to god kids these day don't think about nothing but them selves, what if it was his real friend and they knew each others irl? even tho they didn't met in real life that doesn't mean **** , they are still friends, and friends should worry about each others...
i understand why the kids nowadays are all depressed and stuff lol, i would lol my ass off the day when you will really need someone and you will not find anything, because you were too busy "focusing on yourself"

I think it does have something to do with his mother and Grandmother. When I was going through some personal emotional issues, my appetite immediately disappeared and it scared me. Anyway, the police are not helpful in Mexico.
A story from Gus Sorola from the RoosterTeeth Podcast told about how his mother's experience with the police. She was doing something, I forgot what, but the police said give us what you have or go to jail and she kept saying jail, and the police just gave up and said, just give us your money, and then eventually, just let her go. Mexican police everybody.

I don't think he'd have much help with the police. Try asking him if he can stay anywhere else like a friends house.
