My friend locked herself out of her Windows 8 computer help
So my friend is a genius and locked herself out of her computer after typing her PIN wrongly 5 times in a row, and she can't get back in. She doesn't have another account on that computer, and she doesn't have another computer either. She tried the USB-password-reset-software method but it didn't work. She's reluctant to reset the computer because she's got a lot of important things inside; is there any other way to get her back in?

She forgot the password too

You're right. And if OP's friend doesn't have her MS account password, she can reset it via e-mail using her phone or someone else's computer.
Go Safemodus and delete password
Simple
@Gyroscope: maybe you thought a bit too much

I was thinking something more sinister

I don't have Windows 8, but it was my understanding that after 5 failed PIN attempts, Windows will revert to password only entry.
That is, she should still be able to access the computer by typing in the actual password.
Reset the computer while keeping data files.
can't she restart the computer and try again..?
