Mac or Pc for college?

Hello everyone!

So I'm about to go off to college, and the bookstore offers discounts on Macs and HPs, so I'm wondering which I should get.
I've used HP my entire life, so I'm MUCH more comfortable with them.
The only time I've ever used a Mac was during photo class freshman year...
However, I am still curious because everyone I ask says Macs are "AMAZING", "INCREDIBLE", "SO MUCH BETTER THAN PC", or "PANCAKES"
If I want to try a mac, is it a bad time to try now since I'm entering college?
These are laptops, btw.

Thanks in advance!

I'm going to be a Biology major, so I don't think I'll be taking any graphic design courses
Thank you so much everyone! I really do appreciate your input!

Depends on what you are using it for. As far as I know most (if not all) Graphic Designers use a Mac or another Apple computer, because of the retina display some have, along side the setting for full color display.

But some programs run ONLY on windows PC's, so that's usually a good choice. Not to mention most (if not all) HP laptops DO NOT work on a Belkin wi-fi router (wired works fine though)

So you should pick based on what programs you might need, when they will be used, and if you need full color monitors.

Unless you need OS X for school, or just want OS X to try it out, my suggestion is usually to stick with Windows. Ofcourse, you could get a Macbook and then put Windows on it if you wanted, but most people get a Mac for the OS anyway
