Basically don't get anything you've heard of.
I can vouch for Sennheiser and MEElectronics. Those are the only good brands I've found.
I've also tried: V-moda, A4Tech, Phillips, Vsonic, Skullcandy, Brainwavz, but they all broke fast or had terrible sound quality.

Just get 30 dollar Apple ear pods off of Amazon. They're actually really high quality.

If youre a basshead, Vmoda crossfade LP2

If you want a perfect pair for 100 bucks more, v moda crossfade m 100
I'm really liking my pair of DT990 Pro's for something with more bass than my Q701, and it's on the same price range as the M50's

If your place sells Ultrasones, you could get a really good pair for ~$180 depending on what you are going to do with them...If you are going to DJ, then obviously the DJ set, and gaming, the HFI set .etc.

I am honestly not an audiophile. However, I would suggest the MM 70i. Not sure about the price of it though so you might want to check that out. I have been eyeing that for a while now.

If you have a credit card, I would suggest the MM 70s.
^This pretty much covers it.

As for personal experience, I can vouch for the V-MODA M80s (also found in the list in the link).
Ridiculously durable, great sound quality (bass-oriented with smooth mids), detachable kevlar cable, comes with a hard case and extra cable.
I don't like the ATH-M50s as much, mostly because of comfort and the inconvenient cable. Sound quality is great, though. Less bassy, so not as ideal for things like EDM.
I find the bass from the M50s pretty good for EDM, so much that I use them for monitoring. I kind of find the low end a tad bit boomy.

ATH-M50 at your price point is the best pair of cans you can get.

Audiotechnica m50s or V Moda Crossfade lps are awesome! ^_^

Like others have said Beats by dre products aren't bad but overpriced... you can get headphones with better quality and half the price

Beats are low quality but that aren't as bad as most people, myself included usually say they are, it's just because those idiots hype them and it makes us mad. Also I know the whole sale value for Beats is less than $50 though because I know a guy who sells the ones that are deemed unfit for store shelves because of misprints on the packages and he sells them for $50.

My advice would be to look for a different forum to ask though.

for the price you pay for them , no.
there are better headphones out there for the ~$150-200 you pay for dr dre products
