New, no money, no knowledge

I have no idea what's going on here.

I quit about 3 years ago and because of a combination of boredom and poor decision making skills, I decided to try again. But, most of these guides on Basil look outdated, and I don't know anyone who plays anymore. So I have no idea how to do anything.

I have a few characters from ~60 to ~120, but I don't know where to train them.
I have no items, and I don't where to get them. (Or what to get. There's a lot of new stuff.)
I have no money, and I don't know where to earn it.

If someone could either explain or link me to a place that does, I'd be in your debt forever.

@VoidWreck: Normal/CZakum, Hilla, RA bosses, Normal Ranmaru, and Von Leon. Those are usually enough for a few mil a day without too much hassle.
How much money can be made with NPCing pots?
depends on the amount of bosses you farm a day.
2 Zak, 2 HT, 2 Hilla, 2 Ranmaru, 1 Von Leon } around 5mil+.
The Dews give the most.
[also pink bean, gollux]

Training and npcing equips can rack in about 1mil+ per repot, depending on lvl of equips*
Extracting superior crystals from 120 equips can rack players easy 2m each.
From my experience, a few mil a day mainly from bossing. I usually keep the power elixers that's why. If you have a portable merchant you can gain a few extra mil from training and npcing the useless equips.
So if I just NPC the pots I get from Zakum drops, I can instantly make a few mil? o.o There has to be some kind of catch to this. Unless I do Zakum, Gollux, CRA bosses, etc each day
Training atm: pot up and prepare for an hour of grinding at this month's event - "Mr.Lee. Vacation Quest" can be found at the left side on the star icon.
Get your x2 exp coupons from the next event on your characters, 12 per weekend - 6hours total.
PQing is generally a good source till 120, and switching to Monster Park Extreme when you run out of entries.

Items: Tot can give u free equipment till lvl 60, there's a key for it on ur layout. Monsters now have increased drop rate for stuff like equips / pots.

Money: Doing easy zakum and npcing pots. Npcing equips you loot.

That's the tip of the iceberg. Anything else requires you to immerse yourself in the game again before explaining anything further.
Welcome back to Maplestory.

If I recall what happened a while ago, many things have changed.
I suggest you google up patch notes on things such as the RED update, which gave a SIGNIFICANT update to all adventurer jobs. They're mainly very viable bossers now. Believe it or not, I main a fire poison mage and he bosses very effectively. 3 years ago, that might be different but I didn't play Maple 3 years ago so I can't be 100% sure.

If I recall, 3 years ago people were waiting for the pirate revamp...? then Jett was released..? Phantom too.. something like that. Other things... perm teleport rock etc. It's all blurry but yea, lots of new jobs, new scrolls, new maps. Explore the game! It'll be fun.

Other things are the upgrade of new scrolls such as +8 attack, +9 attack, and +10 attack scrolls for weapons. 3 years ago, there were 20% pinnacle scrolls I assume? but now these scrolls are more available. It is easier to get godly now which is nice.

As for money making guides, I suggest you check out GreatBolshy's youtube channel. I feel like his guides are short and sweet and get the job done effectively.

Bring yourself up to speed with Maplestory. Watching other Maple youtubers can be entertaining and also help you out in saving money and doing events.

Other updates: Unleashed changed the damage cap up to 50m per line which is not as impossible to hit as some may imagine.

Sorry I can't give you a comprehensive time line but just try to explore the game.
