Science Hw help- 8th Grade Science- Buoyancy
Hia! I'm in 8th grade physical science and the class I'm in is learning about buoyancy, density, weight, that kinda stuff. Could you guys help me with this question please? Also explain how you got the answer too please thanks!
A cargo barge weighs 200,000 N when empty. Cargo weighing 50,000 N is loaded on the barge. What is the weight of water displaced by the loaded barge?
So far I thought buoyancy = weight of displaced water but how do I get the buoyancy?
Thanks again!

o.o o.o o.o o.o Welp okay then thanks for your help guys.
What's the reasoning though? o.o
not to sure overall i think it would float unless i get all factors about the density and pressure and stuff like that
probably float
What's the reasoning though? o.o
But which one would be stronger causing it to sink or float?
probably float
Ah I remember doing this back in 8th grade. Problem is, that was 2 years ago, and I haven't touched anything like that for 2 years. Sorry can't helped.
Yes, buoyancy would be pushing up and weight pushing down.
But which one would be stronger causing it to sink or float?
I've never heard the word "Newton" as a measurement until i reached grade 11... and you're doing this in grade 8?
wow i feel like an idiot now
Don't worry about it I'm one of those advanced students most of my classes are advanced.
vectos as in numbers and stuff?
a vector quantity can be a magitude-number with some directions in it ex: 95m[East]
As in if the weight vectors are stronger then the buoyant force vectors or vice versa.
To Nivea
I think I'm in an advanced class o.o
That would be 1.0 grams/cubic centimeters I think.
Thanks! My class is a bit ahead of stuff also what would the vectors be? In Buoyant force going up and weight force going down?

whats the water density?
That would be 1.0 grams/cubic centimeters I think.

But, wow i don't remember. i don't even remember doing this stuff in 8th grade.
To Staggering we needed to know that for the last test </3
Water density is 1,000 kg/m³
Sea water density is aroune 1,020 I believe
Not like he needs to know that yet
whats the water density?
