Graphic Card Problem

hey guys, so recently my graphic card broke or fried. idk which one it is
the screen started to have static and therefore, it was broken.

so i was wondering, how would the graphic card break because i would like to avoid the situation again.

for example, i play alot of games that require a very good graphic card (high graphics) which makes my 8800 card look like 20 dollars back then. would that be the cause of the problem since it would seem that it would overwork the drive?

thanks

"Static" on the screen could be caused by bad RAM on the video card. There's really no specific cause, except possibly overheating, RAM just sometimes goes bad.

Overheating can be caused by overclocking the video card, so be aware of that if that's something you do. Also be sure the airflow around your video card is sufficient to keep it cool, and make sure the fan, if it has one, is not blocked by a buildup of dust in the heatsink below the fan.

Just using the video card shouldn't cause any specific problems, it's just one of those things that happens sometimes.

One other thing to check- if you're comfortable with working inside the computer, open the case and remove the video card, then plug it solidly back into its slot and secure it well. Bad connections between the motherboard's slot and the card might cause similar video artifacts, although it's a lot less likely this will be the cause.
