You don't need to challenge me. I'm just trying to get you to see the other side's perspective, even if you don't agree with it. Lots of times, I don't agree either. But people who litter are usually not trying to be rude or disrespectful on purpose. Maybe they just don't notice that they littered. Never attribute to malice what could just as easily be attributed to stupidity. And yes, you could say that represents a lack of responsibility on their part, but everyone has lapses. What if you don't notice that the wind has blown your trash away, or what if you're late to a meeting that takes priority. Street litter happens when all of those small lapses happen, spread across a large amount of people.

I usually don't but every once in a while when I'm in my car & I need it to be clean I will throw something out the window

If food counts, then yes I litter a little bit.
For example; I hate crust. I'll take a sliver of it and toss it into a planter or bush. I know it will be eaten by something, and a tiny organism wont go starving that week.
Everything else, I throw away in a trash can. I'll even pick up stuff that I see laying around and throw it away properly.

Different people have different situations. For any individual person, maybe there's a 1/100 chance that they're in a situation where they need to litter. But if a hundred of those people move through the same space, you're gonna see litter. It's not any one person's fault. People don't just wake up in the morning and say "yeah, today I'm gonna be a jerk to the environment and litter everywhere." Maybe it's something as simple and basic as someone who finished their drink while they're hanging out with their friends, and they don't want to break away from the circle to throw away trash. I've been making a conscious effort not to. Back in India everyone throws everything on the streets. I used to eat Popsicles or whatever as a kid and drop the trash right out my window lmao. However the country smells like ass now and there's heaps of garbage everywhere, not to mention the stupid cows and wild dogs defecating everywhere (cow = god LOL).

@Nashi: You have to fight fire with fire. Granted, I don't really throw trash in their yard much now because her old husband was the guy who was racist(RIP to the dead mofo hope he rots in hell). If someone did that, they better expect retaliation. I would find out and do something terrible to them.

Sometimes a small candy wrap or a banana peel, but thats all. For the rest I always hold it in my hold till I pass a a thrash can.

No I don't understand why it's so hard to throw your trash away and recycle. In other countries people even pack home their trash to separate and dispose of properly.

I try to not litter. Sometimes it's impossible like when wind blows something out of my hand and every time I catch up to it the wind blows it further. But that rarely happens and otherwise I don't because it all ends up in the ocean and I care too much about the ocean to do that.

Littering is bad, I once saw my younger cousin throw a popsicle stick on the ground with the intent to just leave it there and I ended up getting into a fight with my uncle about whether or not I had the authority to chastise his kids.

Worst I've done is thrown a gum out of a driving car (when I didn't have anything to put the gum in and it was starting to dissolve... URGH NASTY).
Other than that I always put all litter I have in my purse or throw it away immediately (which was easier in Germany cause there's trashcans literally every 10 seconds of walking lol).
Don't understand how people can throw away crap and not feel bad about it. I picked up a mason jar before when we were in the mountains (why pollute nature? ) and took it home to use as a plant pot lol

@xdarkshynobi: that's terrible just cause they have someone to clean up doesn't mean they won't care... imagine someone would throw their trash near/in your house repeatedly.. sure it'll be taken care of eventually but it's a repetetive nusiance.... how can you not feel bad about it

US might very well be the only 1st world country with streets filled with garbage b/c people simply don't care about the environment. even Vegas have trash all over the place.
in other countries like Japan and S Korea, the streets are very clean.

I admit when I'm running with a water bottle I just throw it away anywhere. I have these rich neighbors and usually throw trash in their yard cause they have these hispanic people who clean EVERY 2 WEEKS. I should stop though they are nice people. At least after the lady old husband died. The old husband was racist and would call the cops on us a lot. They even called child service. The new guy says hello and is a car junkie.
