Difference between small & large holiday surprises?
Apparently, according to MapleStory's website.
The small holiday surprise has more possible items in it than the large one.
Why is it 3x cheaper than the large?
They both have the same things.
Is it to do with the chances or something?

I looked at the list and the "reg price" for all the prizes for the respected cash shop cubes are never less then the price of the cube. The cheapest prize on the Large cube is 3k nx which is equivalent to the price you buy it for.
I'm not sure, I can be wrong though.

I think it all depends on your luck.
You might get VIP teleport rocks but there's also always the chance of getting something good.
Eg. Like above (Perma pets, SoK, Cubes, etc.)

Yeah you can cause today I bought one and got VIP teleport rocks so I was pretty annoyed
