Do you need to see the first one to understand the new movie? I've never had the chance to see the first one and am thinking about seeing the new one.

It's just that the first one was glorious.
Anchorman 2 is an absolute steaming pile. It tries so hard to recreate what the first one did it's embarrassing.
The cameos are to die for
I've seen the 1st but not the 2nd, but people who've seen both say the 1st was funnier (of course) but the 2nd is still way more funny than other comedy movies, so you might as well go see it.
If there are references they probably don't matter and it'll be funny anyway.

Uhh, yes there was. Every other joke was one pretty much reused from the first one.
I doubt there is any story line involved that likes 1 to 2, besides I was never impressed with the promos for 1 or 2, they just seem so stupid
Just watch the first one lol, you are missing out it's a great movie!
I didn't see the first one but I saw the second one. There weren't any references to the first one... At least, I don't think so.
