Loading times actually longer now?

Before when the game would fully load before starting it would take roughly 2-3 minutes. Now when taking everything except the starting video into account, it takes roughly 4-5 minutes to load everything, from the actual start time to the world entry, channel selection, character selection and start-up. Has anyone truly experienced benefits from the different order of events or is it just me whose loading times actually got worse?

I also want to know if anyone's lagged heavily when trying to enter Star Planet. I can't seem to get in at all and I've pretty much given up. Has anyone experienced and found a solution for this?

I live 40 minutes away too. It sounds like you go to school in Houston so I assumed you would either be at Rice or UH.

My post was meant for CherryTiger who was mentioning his clock speed.
You had mentioned he should invest in a better computer, so I was just giving some advice about how the clock speed isn't always representative of how fast it is.
Oh lol my bad I forgot what his post said.

@CherryTigers I'll literally drive to your house and give you my old laptop that can stream, record, etc if you pay me in mesos.
Nah jk but seriously yo get a new computer. If you go to UH or Rice maybe I could even let you borrow my laptop to render on.

Maplestory loads and gets to login screen in like 10 seconds or less for me. Before I had to wait 1 minute and 10 seconds.

I went from 3 minute loading time to 40 seconds. I am very pleased.
Higher clock speeds don't necessarily lead to faster processing. It all depends on the actual chip's architecture.
I find that maple's more stable and faster on my desktop than my laptop, even though the clock speeds are equivalent (3.6 GHz).
The laptop has an AMD chip, the desktop has an intel chip.

If cherry were to invest in a better laptop, I'd look for specific processors with good reviews rather than just a high clock rate.
I'm pretty sure the loading time is 80% (random number) dependent on your read speed and not your processor. I don't see why you felt the need to say that anyways, I didn't mention anything about clock speeds at all.

@SilverFoxR: I'm sure if timed it I would find that it is. One thing I dislike is the fact that my client still sometimes crashes when connecting to the servers. I'd rather them crash while booting up that way I don't have to keep logging in over and over. ._.

I could deal with longer load times, I could also deal with getting blocked from Star Planet. What I don't like is when the lag from Star Planet carries over and crashes my computer. Anyone experiencing this?

That's the key word... "feels".

Honestly, it does seem like the same, if not quicker than before. Remember, that there was loading time just connecting to the server, not just loading the game. Overall, this seems quicker and more intuitive. I also like how the game will not kick me out if there's a connection error like we had with the channel crashes on the first day after the patch. If you were sent back to the character select page on a crash/disconnect and tried to log in again before the patch, it'd give you a message that you were still logged on and close the game completely, kicking you back to the website. Now, when the same thing happens, it keeps the game running while the character disconnects and you re-enter the world (still have to wait a minute to do so... but whatever).
