Whats so good about Kpop

Kpop sucks(idols, not the real artists and musicians in Korea), seriously, Justin Bieber has better songs than some Korean idols.

I'm Korean and I can't stand idols, they have the same recycled songs played over and over, lyrics seems like it's written by 10 year olds.
and most of their songs are forgotten by the general public in about 3 months.
They are slaves to their labels.
I'm sad the real artists and musicians in Korea are generalized in the same category as idols.

Ironically, this song...does a good job explaining some of the biggest issues people have with Westernized pop. (God, the random rap verses...)

i dont know why people like to listen to musci they dont understand! i mean i can understand but who mixes english with korean in songs? does Lady GaGa say random Japanese phrases and say it with an extreme accent! I mean i dont even like Kpop cuz they all have the same themes...

It would be about clubs, girls, boys, love, etc.! i mean comon! get some new ideas! but i guess american songs do that to... i just had to let that out.. and Lady GaGa sucks.

and i dont really like music unless.DEADMAU5 lol.

@Baekho: How is k-pop replacing old good Korean songs? If it's really good, it won't get replaced.
Actually, a lot of old good korean songs are still remembered by a lot of people in South Korea.
Idols on the other hand, their songs are forgotten in like 3 months.

First time watching what you people call "K-Pop" and I think I'm going to turn this off my browser then delete my history to the beginning of time just to think nothing ever happened, good day sirs.
Thing is, this is an American song. The English lyrics of the song is COMPLETELY different than the Korean lyrics of the song. If anything, the majority of popular English songs have a worse set of lyrics compared to the standard popular Korean lyrics. Also, the statement "What's so good about..." can be said about anything. What's so good about Lil' Wayne? What's so good about Jesus/God? What's so good about [Insert controversial topic]?

Maybe the only reason you know crappy english lyrics is because you only know crappy artists in America(ex Lil Wayne, Kesha)

Idols are not necessarily musicians. Like @CrayonScribble said. It is sad that the amazing musicians are not as popular, but it's POP for a reason. To be honest I think there are waaaaaayyyyyy too many idol groups right now, and only a handful can really sing, but idols aren't just trained to sing or make music. They're trained to dance, to look good, to entertain. They are pretty much puppets of their own companies but this is what they really want to do, so at least give them some respect for it? The older groups / idols / artists inspired all these younger ones with their work. It's not easy and you have to really want it to even debut, without even knowing if the public will like you, or if it will take years before you get your first win on a music show. Not everyone (especially Westerners) will recognize their efforts. And a lot of people from the West will see their "music" as bad, and that is why a lot of their fans want them to just stay in Korea / Japan / Asia.

Plus the music is only half of it. The other half is their shows and appearances where you get to know the idols a bit more, how they got to where they are, etc. So you might not appreciate the music that they didn't even write, but there are thousands of others who appreciate what they did. Oh and the music is to SELL. Not to inspire you to change your life or whatever. They come up with repackaged albums all the time with ten remixes of the same songs and one new song just to sell, but that's the company's fault and not the idols'.
You do know in Korean they recognise that Kpop artists are 'idols' and not singers right?

They ask them questions like do you want to be a singer or an actor in the future etc? They know they aren't making music.
You do realize people outside Korea consider all korean artists in the genre Kpop.

People have different preferences. I personally really don't like kpop, only the ballads and hiphop songs that some of the groups have. Also, you picked some of the worst examples I've ever seen.

Here's just SOME of the groups I know. SNSD in terms of Kpop receives the same fan base as Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber. Pick the most well known songs and you're bound to have someone who hates it like mad.

And to those of you who think Kpop artists can't sing:
This is Jooyi, a member of Rania. Rania is known for its overly-sexual dancing. Excuse her accent, English isn't her first language. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaYQwOSaSe4

This is Hyo Rin, a member of Sistar. Sistar is known for it's SNSD-like dance pop. Sistar is one of the groups that people insult for not being able to sing. Excuse her heavy accent, she barely knows any English at all, and she's essentially singing this based on the sound alone. This is also during an audition. Keep in mind that she's nervous as hell.

Anyways, list:
2AM
2NE1
2PM
A-Ble
After School
An Jin Kyoung
A-Pink
BEAST
Big Bang
Block B
BoA
Brown Eyed Girls
Chocolat
Code V
Dalmation
DalShabet
Davichi
Epik High
F(x)
F.Cuz
G.NA
Gavy NJ
Hyori
Infinite
IU
Jewelry
Kahi
Kan Mi Youn
KARA
MBLAQ
Miss A
Narsha
Navi
NS Yoon Ji
Orange Caramel
Rainbow
Rania
Se7en
Secret
SHINee
Shinhwa
Sistar
SNSD
Son Dam Bi
SpinEL
SS501
Sunny Hill
Super Junior
Swincle
T-ara
TVXQ
Vanilla Lucy
Wonder Girls

The list goes on, these are just the selected faves of mine.

EDIT: I stray from American music because I can understand the lyrics. I can't stand rock or poetic pieces, just my preference and I can't give you a reason for it, so don't flame me on that. I love dance pop because I myself am an experienced dancer (contemporary, pop, choreography, hip hop). I like dancing to fast paced songs, and I like listening to them. But American pop music has such vulgar or strange lyrics that repeat in an unimaginably annoying fashion. So I turned to Kpop, because I don't understand it. It's up-beat, catchy, and since I don't understand the lyrics, it's like the voices are instruments rather than vocals. I never search the true meaning of lyrics, simply because I don't care for it. I do not listen to SNSD unless it's a remixed version.

Man do I love remixes.

Almost all the songs I'm listening to now are club-remixes

Seriously? the lyrics.

'Girls' Generation make you feel the heat
And we're doin' it, we can't be beat
B-Bring the boys out
We're born to win
Better tell all your friends
'Cause we get it in
You know the girls
B-Bring the boys out'

SERIOUSLY?
omg I know what you mean. snsd's lyrics are just so... </3
awman can't express how >.< I get at "girl's bring the boys out! I wanna dance right now...!"
stupidest part ever. gr now I sound like a hater. yet I still catch myself singing their music.
LOL a the bias. You pick one of the worst group/song of kpop that even koreans don't even know. Pick something like leessang. Least those songs are better than lady gaga justin bieber katy perry combined. and i hate kpop actually.~~~
I don't consider LeeSsang kpop however, I consider them a legit hiphop group that is unfortunatly in South Korea and labeled as the same genre as korean idols.

Feel free to hate it all you want.

You won't change anything.

They say they hate it because of the obsessed fans. But the ones who hate the obsessed fans are just as obsessed themselves.
