What if the Govt officially announced the end of the world?

I mean to be honest, lets say the government KNEW the day the world would end, who would be the ones to tell the people that:
"hey, folks 20xx is the end of the world and we have no way of stopping it? " Logically it would be safer to let everyone leave out their normal lives, and even if scientists had clear proof, they would call it speculation or completely censor them. So why do people have so much faith in the Govt and the fact that scientists haven't shown PEOPLE evidence?

In a situation where they didn't have the power to stop a world calamity do you think they would tell us? If so when and how?

Question: What would have to occur before you believed the end of the world was near?

well.
i would.. probably be sitting around, just thinking about things that are important to me. and then i'd be thankful that I lived long enough to see the world end. and then i'd go get myself a glass of orange juice, and think some more, happily immersed in my own thoughts.
at least I know one thing: i'mma go smilin'. c:
if the world's gonna end, it's gonna end.
edit: it would be amusing to watch people freaking out. all the hysteria..
Honestly I feel that if the government just popped out of the closet announcing the complete wipe out of the human race, it'd lead to chaos and simply that. It'd lead to people trampling over others in hurry to escape (though there really isn't one) and many suiciders... etc. It'd be a preeeeetty crazy day.
Maybe if they somehow did know, it'd be like that 2012 movie and maybe they have like a secret understructable habitat of some sort to live through the disaster or something crazy like that. I doubt they'd release such information to public though.. I mean it'd be pretty stupid to be that careless..
Agreed completely. I guess people would probably get the hint when all the presidents around the world simultaneously resign. Although, I would probably want to know even if it was unavoidable so i could atleast get a chance to prepare myself.

For me personally to believe the world is ending? I don't think anything can convince me of that.

Actually, I think I'd want to spend time alone to experience the world and write. It would be interesting to watch the world end... imagine the mass hysteria.
Personally i think all this 2012 myth is a plan to provoque ppl to suicide before they suffer from the world's end, so only the ppl stupid enough to believe it will die and for 2013 the average IQ of the earth will be higher along with less overpopulation.

So you believe that CNN and BBC would announce the end of the world AGAINST the Governments orders? and if they did you don't think that they would cave in and repeal their statement under Govt pressure?

If I heard on a United States News channel, I'll change to China's news channel and see if they say anything about it.
Answer: I would have to think, the water drying up, quiet frankly I don't know, I just thought of that.
