Honestly, phantoms are horrible unfunded. People that says that Cross surge on phantoms make them easy to be damage dealers probably never played a phantom before.
Lets start with the low weapon multiplier that thieves have, so yeah, you are going to have trouble getting a decent natural range. It's a lot easier getting a higher range (clean) on any other thief.
We lack emblems, which's a HUGE deal. Thief gear is insanely expensive. Getting a decent cane is just less expensive than a good dagger, other than that it's pretty mucht he second most expensive thief weapon.
Umm what else... Oh, if you have full clean empress gear with lv 2 link skills from all characters, ur clean range will be around 33k more or less 70k buffed, trust me, that is pretty bad considering all of our base skills have low %tage.
On the other hands, if u like the class play it nonetheless and fund slowly. Once u get to 100k+ clean range you can start doing some decent bosses and start harvesting some money to fund urself.
No one cares about range nowadays, reaching 2-2mil range isn't a milestone anymore.

can you show us your "easy peasy 2-2m"?
@whiblasian sorry i wasn't really clear. I mean 50m funding on just equips. I have money but i just don't want to fund my phantom, and was wondering if it's still worth training it
I think you should just make a cygnus knight, you wont be able to afford all the books with 50mil.
eh with 50m funding you cant find any class other than a beginner....
