yah they have no clue how much mroe funding we require than other mages to do our damage. but the thing i do like is the fact that i can say im invincible as long as i dont get 1/1. told one of my guildies i might use 5-10 pots a day and he was like i use 400+
The reason why Dark Shock>Reaper was back in '11 with LHC and PvP. Dark Shcok had excellent damage in PvP, a good get-away attack. In LHC, Reaper was useless because it could not be summoned on the mobs within.
I was only able to max both since a while back I was awarded free SP, current BaMs wont have that extra SP since it was a one time deal. Another good way i can think of is if you have the leafre set you can save some extra SP for every job since the leafre set gives +1 all skill pts and I think your able to max both that way.

And you can't that sp is only for second job, not third.
You can max both. So why choose?
For those who will argue with me saying you cannot max both there is a quest with brighten at level 30 that gives you some sp.

i love when they spawn at dimension pq bc half the time my party just stops attacking since they are getting ksed by all the reapers. i havnt seen anyone try to attack my reapers yet but a lot ask me what it is
@Blohgorn: Thanks, But I didnt expect this. Just threw some 50%'s on my training staff I use for all my mages, other than Lumi, and scrolled my tradeable %int for training with int. They just happen to 1 hit most stuff, and since its only 30 secs by time I get back they are usually gone and I have mobs to kill.
The most hilarious thing is when people try to ks you. Either they know what it is and refuse to deal with it, or think it's monsters and wonder why they cant hit it. Lol. At least ms is getting new players.
@lulzace well i guess the build changed a little bit from when i made my BaM since 3rd job is now at lvl 60 and the old training areas like mp3 got buffed a few lvls but if u got reapers to work well for your training nice job to you man
@Blohgorn: Tbh I recreated this recently because of the Ap thing and also I really felt like playing it from scratch. I have gear so damage isnt an issue so instead of doing an "optimal" i'm doing a w/e I feel like build.
Though it is actually pretty useful. Clear a platform and summon 3-6 of em and they take care of that platform while you move on to others. I was smacking myself last time b/c I wiated toll level 80 to put points into it and it was honestly better than putting points into anything that wasn't body boost.

yah but 1 you shouldnt really be maxing reaper at lvl 70 much more useful skills for u to put points into and 2 (this was more relevant when lhc was party play) but for those of u who train at evo till 140 u wont be using reapers as they dont spawn at evo link 3.... dark shock isnt worth crap there either but hey... and once u leave dimension pq for pple who train there and go to drill hall once again reapers wont spawn...
they are very useful at dimension pq and places with large mobs that allow them to spawn but generally the higher lvl u get the less reapers spawn due to where u are training

u dont even need to max reaper for it to be useful at dimension. mine is lvl 8 or 9 and i hv an army whenever i kill at dimension for kicks and giggles. also if ur in a party with nubs ur reapers will ks your party members go Pro BaMs go Pro[/quote]
Dunno. Training at normal places at lv 70 and I always seem to have at least 3 reapers out. Most of the time I have 9+

and im guessing the reason is because at hoh you might only spawn 5 reapers in an hour if ur luck (depends how fast u kill mages if u give them time to summon ifrit etc)
wg u wont see a reaper. and the reason we all max ds (err most of us) were waiting for that fatefull day when nexon brings back pvp so we can reclaim our crown as pvp champions killing everyone with ds and twister.

After 170 my friend never used dark shock ever again
better use blow + hyper than use darkshock + hyper
reaper will help you mobbing, my best summon like 9 reaper in rash monster leafre
reaper is useless imo. Dark shock is only good for pvp or if you want to see high damage.
I think reaper was always better though. DS only does so much damage.
5 set empress or leafre card set.

But seriously though it all comes down to where you train, now that lhc has been demolished and it appears that dimensional invasion pq is taking over, the guide writers will soon realize that an army of reapers is better than dark shock.
Yeah i felt the same aobut reaper and maxed it, wherease shock is just a 260% increase on cooldown. and its pretty short anyway.
Heck no. Dark Shock was only useful for burst damage in PvP.

oh is it? i find reaper more useful in certain circumstances, like dimension/alien pqs.. don't rlly use dark shock
