it just sounds like people talkin fast with a beat in the backround
I guess it's just a matter of personal preference. I personally love rap, and hate rock and country music. To me rock consist of, people screaming while someone is playing guitar music in the background.

You mean.. when there is talkers like those around?

Anyways, IMO rap is more like talking about their past, that's why I don't like it.

@chocomufin: Please do me a favor and don't have that henesys crap talk in here. Leave that out of this, it's her style, let her look how she wants to look.
Stern black man with a slanted logo hat, wrist watch, baggy t-shirt/black jacket, and various glittery neck adornments who raps about life in the ghetto.
Guess which artist I'm talking about.

.......
Precisely.
Stern man with leather jacket, washed-out jeans, and wavy hair.

Guess which rock star I'm talking about?

Skinny man with plaid shirt, skinny jeans, and a beanie.

Guess which Indie artist I'm talking about?

Stern man with cowboy hat, acoustic guitar, brown khakis who sings about getting heartbroken.

Guess which country singer I'm talking about.
People dislike rap because they like fail genres such as rock and metal.
Rock fails and so does metal.
I lol'd so damn hard. I'm 13 years old, I like rock so much more than rap.
Why? Because I can understand what they're saying the first time I hear it.

Also, Rock's been around a lot longer than Rap, and it's not going anywhere any time soon.
Soulja boy aint shi Lil Wayne is mad
Have you ever stopped and read some of Lil' Wayne's lyrics? He doesn't make sense in 99.9% of his songs. Most of his songs he just says random stuff because hes too high to even know what hes doing. Lil' Wayne sucks I'm happy hes in jail.

Edit: And rock and metal don't sound bad. Shame on you for saying it's worse. Rock actually takes talent. What kind of talent do you need for rap?....All you need is a dictionary and some black kid making noises.
@pr3stig3: Can't really get me on the quote, because well, it was a quote.
And you got me on internet (notice how I don't capitalize internet there). Mostly because it was just a typo.
But I'll give you full points on "than".
For the record, what does rap have to do with grammar?
It doesn't; I'm just in an argumentative mood

Anyways, people are entitled to their opinions, so just let them be.
Yeah, that would be on the radio these days...

I can tell you don't get out much and probably havn't heard anything off V hits for a couple decades so yeah no point arguing with you..

AKA thats Hip Hop
It's FYI, not AKA.
AKA = Also Known As. Doesn't make any sense in that context.
And, yes I have. SO DAMN SORRY that I feel that rap is nothing more than people talking fast to a overused beat. Don't have to go out trashing people because we have a different point of view.

Because people don't understand rap. They get their image of rap music from the likes of Soulja Boy and Lil Wayne. They've never heard an Immortal Technique song, or a NaS song.
Shall I come up with another verb? How about shouting? Speaking? Reciting? Chattering? Even barking?
I don't find listening to people shouting random words with a musical beat in the background very pleasant. Do you?
Rah, rah, ah, ah, ah.
Roma, roma, ma.
Gaga, ooh, la, la
Want your bad romance.
(Repeat x100).

Using repetition to denounce a musical genre isn't really a good argument, considering how repetition appears in just about every genre of music. Rap isn't all about repetitive chanting, there are different types of rapping. I'd look it up, but I don't think it's worth my time to prove you wrong, so I'll just leave it at that.
Not all heavy metal is screaming. You're probably confusing it with deathcore/metalcore/screamo.
And it's not all about singing in metal, it's also about the other instruments.
Meh I guess so. I mean, I respect other people's musical tastes. However, it's just not my thing.
Uh kinda.
My definition of Chant:
-reciting with musical intonation
Real definition of Chant: Chant is the rhythmic speaking or singing of words or sounds, often primarily on one or two pitches called reciting tones.....often including a great deal of repetition of musical subphrases

I'm pretty sure it consists of way more than 2 pitches and, other than the hook, there is no "great deal of repetition".
I don't listen to any one type of music religiously but some rap is okay. Most of its garbage though. What I really don't get is why Heavy Metal is so appealing to nerds.
I don't understand either. Well, not the nerds part, but people in general. I consider myself pretty open when it comes to music, but I can't, for the life of me, get myself to enjoy heavy metal. What is it about having someone scream at the top of their lungs, destroying your hearing in the process, that appeals to so many people?
Because it's like saying William Shatner was a musician for his spoken-word songs. That's all rap is, sped-up spoken word songs. Unless they write the beats and instrumental parts, a rapper isn't a musician, there a person who made money from talking.
That is one of the dumbest things i've ever heard but regardless of what you think it is, it is still something requires talent to do.
By your logic rap is essentially the basis for all other music the only difference is that one is "spoken" according to you and the other is sung.

Also many rappers do write their own music and play the instruments for them too.
