Can I download things on a Chromebook?

In the commercials, I hear it can only download apps from the Chrome App Store, and Maplestory isn't on that.

Can I download Maplestory from the website and it'll keep it in my bottom bar, etc?

Thanks.

@CygnusBabii: Or an actual good distribution like Crunchbang 11/ Debian Wheezy or Fedora.

Edit: On topic.

Don't do this. Chromebooks have dismal storage capacity and rely on cloud storage for that very purpose. They're supposed to be internet + light media machines for the ignorant masses.

Nope. BUT you can install Ubuntu to replace Chrome OS so that your Chromebook can become an actual laptop with actual programs When you've done that you can execute Maple via a virtual machine. < I haven't seen any speed tests yet but you can try

You can download anything because the data is there, but you cannot execute it.

Chrome OS is based on Gentoo GNU/Linux and we all know that Maplestory is software ONLY designed for Microsoft Windows. It will NOT work on any nonwindows operating system even with WINE or similar programs. The only way to make it function on a non-native operating system is to emulate a version of Microsoft Windows via virtual machines.
