Good Gaming Laptops?

Before I begin, I apologize if this is in the wrong forum. T_T
Anyways, my current laptop is atrocious, so I'm trying to find a good gaming laptop that's no more than 1,000$.
Any and all recommendations are greatly appreciated!
(And if I'm posting in the wrong forum, please point me in the right direction!)

I don't recommend a gaming laptop, just like everyone else here. If you really want a laptop though, I would recommend something like a laptop with 4-6 gigs of RAM and a decent processor. That way you'll be able to play light games such as Maplestory, League of Legends, Minecraft etc. You don't have to buy a super expensive laptop for that ,just find something with a decent processor and an adequate amount of RAM.

I wouldn't recommend getting gaming laptops. Even if you do end up getting a good laptop with a lot of memory, fast processor and good graphics card, it will overheat and there are things in the bios menu that prevent it from going their full potential to prevent that from happening.

You could probably build yourself a good desktop for about $600~$800 (monitor, mouse, keyboard and other accessories excluded). If you're in America, I would wait until CyberMonday to order anything though. But I would recommend looking at these Barebone Kits, since they do come discounted if you buy them in a bundle.

Things to look for:
Pick a motherboard that has good expansion slots (MSI, GigaByte, ASUS are recommended companies). Look for multiple PCI2.0x16 slots, without this, you won't be able to get a good graphics card. Also, get USB3.0 if possible, it's insanely fast.
Try getting 8gb+ of RAM, make sure this is compatible with your mother board!
Try getting a quad-core processor. Make sure this is compatible with your motherboard! Intel usually has better performance, though I'm an AMD fan boy myself.
Pick a hard drive to your preference. Most enthusiasts will say get an SSD. I personally find them over the top, as a regular hard drive will suffice (7200RPM recommended), size is up to you.
For graphics card, the first number is generation, the next numbers are speed. So for example, an nvidia 460 is faster than a 610 card. If you go with AMD, go with speeds of X660 or higher, if you go nvidia, go with speeds of X40 or higher (hard to find).
Get a power supply of 700W+, you'll regret not getting more.
Get a case that's full-ATX and has high ventilation. You can also add your own fans into it.

For $1000 you're not going to be able to get a good gaming laptop, you need like $1400+ for that. Youd be able to get a good gaming desktop though, I'd advise you to look into those if you want to game heavily on it.

A gaming laptop is nonsense, you'll never push the settings to run as great compared to building your own rig. Screw portability, it can wait if you really wanted to game intensely, and the amount of heat consumption to run games at ultra just kills the thing slowly overtime. Save that money and invest in a rig, you'll never regret it and the quality compared to a laptop is twice as better. Plus, if the laptop goes bad you basically could try to repair it or if not, then hope customer service buys your sob story and gives you a new or a refurbished one. While a built rig, you could replace parts if anything does go bad. But that's just my input, since I've had too many friends complain and regret buying a " gaming laptop"

Look at the Lenovo Y series. They have pretty decent specs for their price and they look good too. As for desktop, I recommend learning how to build one on your own. Not only is it a great skill to know, it's also cheaper and pretty fun too. If you're ever having issues with some parts or something you will know how to go about finding a solution, if you ever want to upgrade you can always do that instead of buying another computer and you build it looking however you want it to look.

If you want a good gaming desktop build your own. If you want a good gaming laptop, it depends on how portable you want it and the ideal screen size.
