There are way too many weapons in the game

I mean really, do Tachis, Great Swords, Katanas, Fans, Desperados, 2H Maces, and Shining Rods [b]really[/b] need to exist? Yes, Nexon does it so Maplers will spend more money on NX, but isn't Nexon making enough money from cubes anyway? Plus, it makes it really hard to sell certain items (like Katanas, Fans, and 2H Maces) since nobody even uses them. Tachis, Great Swords, Katanas and Desperados can easily just be 2H swords, Shining Rods can just be staves, and Fans can just be wands that Kannas turn into fans to use or something like that. As for 2H Maces, they can just be removed since the only class that uses them are Paladins, almost all of which use Shields. Polearms I don't have as much a problem with because Arans came out when there weren't nearly as many weapons, plus they do have decent value, but perhaps 2H Axes could just be removed and Heroes who really want to use them can use Polearms instead or something like that.
This is just something that has been bothering me for a really long time now. If you look at other RPGs, you will easily notice that none have nearly the same amount of weapon categories as MapleStory.

Well having less weapons allows them to be more creative with each weapon, and like I said in my previous comment Nexon can use the images of Desperados and whatnot but rename them. And I never said I would prefer it if everyone uses swords. Even with these weapons removed, there are still a whole bunch of weapons (1H Swords, 2H Swords, 1H Maces, 1H Axes, Claws, Staves, Wands, Bows, Daggers, Crossbows, Dual Bowguns, Knuckles, etc.).

@DLCMason: Ok, you'll be every elitist DB who thinks they aren't OP... like honestly at least Kaisers, Luminous and Xenon can admit they are OP. DBs clear Dojo and bosses with a much lower range than most classes. Just admit that you are OP.
ok imagine if you work in that company and you want a ways to increase profit,
you can create more different types of weapon category so people cannot transfer their premade equips to the new class that comes out
so the players will have to mass scrolls and cubes the equips for the new character to be more powerful.
Why on earth is too many weapons a bad thing?
It brings uniqueness into play. Tell me; would you rather have every class use a sword and no change? -.-

Nexon can just transfer the images of, say, Desperados or Katanas, to 2H Swords and rename them.

But I love the weapons, they have different and unique designs. Well most of them.
