Gaming Laptop Options?

I'm looking for a decent gaming laptop that won't cost me more than $1,500 and I've been to stores like Sony and best buy but they just don't have anything with quality. I looked at this one: http://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Battalion_101_W370ET_Gaming_Laptop but then it has issues of its own, such as no back-lit keyboard. I've been thinking of getting a Asus because they seem to make pretty good ones, my only concern is how bulky they may be because I'm looking for a 16-17". Any suggestions would be appreciated Thank you.

I use a Toshiba and it meets just about the minimum requirements for even the latest games.

@Baekho
I have seen asus G-series (gaming computers) laptops for under 800 or so in best buy, but I haven't found them online. The G7x series are the 17 inch ones. Alienware x51 is a desktop. Desktops are always going to be much much faster than laptops in terms of price per speed. But for people like me and possibly the TS, desktop is not a viable option because of busy lifestyles and college. The cheapest alienware that can even compare to the same specs as ASUS would cost 1600 or more.

@FrostyGun
When you can take your desktop to class and bring it back and forth every single day while fitting it all in a backpack, tell me, and I will buy a desktop.
Don't get Alienware, not because they're bad, but because they're overpriced.

ASUS G75VW. You can find one in Best Buy for around $900 or so. They're still 1250 now, but they will go down for black friday, or by december.
i7 3610QM 2.4GHz Processor, 8 CPUs
DDR3 8GB RAM
750GB HDD 7200rpm
NVIDIA GTX 660M 2GB GDDR5

My current laptop is ASUS G73SW-BST6, which is a best buy version. I'd rank this new one as around 1.4x more powerful (if my laptop was new, which it's not). Right now, I am able to play every game in existence without too much lag. Some games like Crysis Warhead or other extremely high quality and open world games have lower-than-ideal FPS, with around 20 to 30 (never goes below 20). Since my laptop only has 1GB video memory, the difference is massive. A friend with 1.5GB never goes below 30 FPS, and 25 when playing with 3D. Just imagine what 2GB will do.

It's also incredibly quiet since it directs the noise away from you and towards the back. And it never gets hot. I've put blankets over the vents (as a test) while running many high-demand programs like Photoshop and TERA Online at the same time, and it doesn't even get as hot as other computers with nothing blocking the vents.
It has a back-lit keyboard, so that satisfies that need.
Yeah Asus Laptops seem like they're high quality, and the vents on those are like freaking jets! But I guess my biggest desire for the asus is to not be super bulky and I prefer a lit keyboard but it's hard to get exactly what you want these days...

The thing is I don't play CoD and super graphic games anyway, except skyrim but lol that's an exception. Other than that's it's Civilization V and League. But I already have a desktop it's just really slow and extremely frustrating to deal with so I want something new. But a desktop limits me a lot and depending where I'm going next year (college or w/e) I'm going to have to have something portable.

I bought my Asus G73 for $1,000 2 years ago on Black Friday, and it has lasted up to this day.
Not sure about the 74s, but the 73s have minor issues that could be fixed with a few software tweaks.

** And holy crap, the 73s are worth almost $2,000 now. I had no idea. **

With 900+ dollars you can get a pretty decent laptop for sure. As for computer models, anything above 800 easily and already should have their own dedicated graphics card. If you're considering gaming though.. I'd say just get a desktop all together.
