Buying a new computer

So I decided that I want to build a computer, and I was wondering what parts are good.
I need only parts, not monitor, within a $1000 budget.
Can someone help me choose some parts that would be compatible with each other?
I'm using msy.com.au for parts.

I'm looking for something with an i5 or i7 processor with atleast 3.2 gHz
and something with 6 to 8 gig ram and a decent graphics card.

all help would be appreciated

What are you plan on doing on this computer? What games will you be playing and what will you be doing outside of gaming?

Edit:
I recall PC DIY is a good online store for finding parts as well. I'm not sure if they deliver to your area or if there's a store near you that you could drive to, but you should try to look at them too.

This site maintains lists of compatible parts to give you "the most bang for the buck" in several budget categories: http://www.hardware-revolution.com/category/computer-systems-2/gaming-pc-2/

They evaluate current computer parts for best performance and best price and recommend their findings. They don't sell anything, just maintain the lists. The lists are updated frequently to reflect new hardware and new pricing.

They also link to the online retailer who has the best price for each item at the time of the current posting, but that won't apply to your situation.

They have pages available for first-time computer builders, and pages detailing the best video cards at each price point as well as pages on selecting other components like power supplies.
