Why cant I use my protection scroll on my lv 99 maple claw?

I only have one star on it! And it's not untradeable or a Tyrant / Nova equip..I used those free compensation protection scrolls on it just fine before, but the one I just got form the RED shop won't work .

@Regatzopunk - Why wouldn't the first star use up the protection (if it were protected)? Because it had no chance to boom since it was an AEE on star one?

@meergl if the protection effect was activated it wouldn't disappear with the first star, mind showing an SS of the claw

I thought it might be still protected even though there was no icon on it, so I actually went and used an advanced enhancement scroll on it once and that's how I got my 1 star. I still can't use the new protection scroll though.

Edit - @ the hidden protection scroll var - Well that sucks / hadn't heard of that before D:
Edit2 - Just tried to see if I could use it on my lv 80 shoes, and that was a yes, so it can't be a level restriction...

Is it possibly still protected by a scroll?

Edit : Maybe cause there are LITE protection scrolls maybe they have a hidden variable that makes them only usable on level 110+ gear or something?
