What is your opinion on Cryonics?

From any perspective, religious, ethical, etc..

For those of you who don`t know what Cryonics is:
"Cryonics is the preservation of legally dead humans or pets at very low temperature (below -200ºF, -130ºC -- cryogenic temperatures) in the hope that future technology can restore them to life, youth and health. Cryonicists are people who use or advocate cryonics in the hope of greatly extending life and youth."

@Kyuremm:

Certain areas are overpopulated, however, the planet as a whole is far from reaching the max population.

I don't think people realise that Cryonics is very real (not science fiction), with hundreds of people already under cryopreservation around the world.

I think cryogenics is one of the contributing sciences that has to do with very low temperatures. Cryonics has to do with using those low temperatures to store people, in hopes that in the future we will have the technology to revive people. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
no, the world is already on a path to being overpopulated, we wouldnt need more humans to add to the amount of humans there already are on this planet. i would however be in support of this if it was for close to extinct animals who died legally, like old age or something
Why do people constantly claim that this planet is overpopulated? We have more than enough to sustain a population much larger than now.

I`m going to stay pretty neutral about this, though I will admit the topic piques my interest.
I`m not really sure if it is possible and I think it depends on the person. If they want this for themselves they can pay to be cryogenically frozen at death.
I`ve done some research on it (and I`m planning on continuing) it definitely controversial; but everyone has different opinions and they're all interesting to read about.

Reminds me of the Mass Effect 2 Lazarus Project.

Made me think of futurama lol.

But no, I don't think it's right. If a person or animal is dead, it should remain so. Let the body rest.
