So I'm going to play Harvest Moon ^^

Well I was just wondering if anyone liked the series. I'm playing Friends of Mineral Town for GBA. If you play, which character are you trying to marry/married to? What are your thoughts?

Me first: I LOVE HM IT'S SOOOO ADDICTING! I'm married to Karen, for the simple reason I hate Rick, he just simply makes me dislike him so I decided I'd marry Karen just to screw him over, otherwise I'd have married Mary or Popurri

EDIT: Just talk about HM in general, any tips? money making secrets?

EDIT 2: I'll start a money making tips section.. Here it is. Please remember tips are for respected games, which may/may not be specified most tips are universal however. Plant these crops in this season etc.:

My tips

(Magical Melody):

1. Buy a frying pan or oven (can't remember which)
2. Buy Bellpeppers
3. Cook Bellpeppers
4. Go outside and ship

(Friends of the Mineral Town):

On the horse races, save before entering and bring a basket. Make a note of who won, bet all your coins on which horse won. If you've trained your horse well enough put as many coins as possible onto that, when you win you'll get more coins. Exchange these for Brooches and put them in the basket, next day pick your basket up sell everything. You'll make a sweet penny with that.

You could try gathering stuff like wild grass, I usually make 4,000g a day which is pretty good for not doing anything but gather, it's also not very time consuming. Save some of the grasses for the Harvest Sprites and make them do your work, then you get more profit!

Shawnnnnnnn's Tips!:

(Harvest Moon in general):

Spring: Plant tons of turnips
Summer: Tons of corn/pineapples
Fall: Tons of eggplants
Winter: Mine/Greenhouse

PhoenixShots' Tips!:

(Harvest Moon in general):

Tool maxing should be on top of your list of things to do. ESPECIALLY the watering can to improve efficiency and for quicker revenue.

(Harvest Moon N64):

NOT A TIP A GLITCH! Talking to Karen whilst holding your dog gives affection points, no need with all the gifts! It's also cost efficient and you can get married quickly because of it.

(Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland):

Growing breadfruit is a steady stream of profit.

(Back to Nature and Friends of Mineral Town):

if your trying to make money on HM: Back to Nature/Friends of Mineral Town, then you need to make friends with the sprites, make it do the farming work as you plant continuous supplies of Pineapple, and abuse the weather trick so that no typhoons/bad weather destroys your crops during the summer.

(A Wonderful Life) SUMMARIZED:

At the beginning make friends with all the villagers to get the special tools for later on. Collecting things daily is a good source of profit at the very beginning also. When you get further in use fertilizer and the seed maker a LOT to make S level seeds. Possibly make Hybrid seeds and sell the fruits of the plant for a good profit. OR simply buy cows and milk them for a living.

oOCielOo's Tips!:

(Harvest Moon in general) SUMMARIZED!:

Start off with the cheaper crops because at the beginning you won't have much money at all. Invest the money you earn in more crops and grow those you'll end up with a bit of money to move onto rearing animals or better crops. Collecting anything in the mountains is quite good and easy money in the beginning as well.

(Magical Melody) SUMMARIZED!:

Most crops are good, it varies on which soil you choose. It's pretty simple but choose the GOOD soil!

(Another Wonderful Life) SUMMARIZED!:

DO NOT BUY THE GOAT! You can't re-sell it and it only gives milk for a short period of time. The only way to be rid of it is to kill it. The teddy that Van sells (after the child is born) is alive and in my opinion makes your baby a manic-depressive, I know mine is. My kid yells A LOT. It could be that I didn't take him out much. Leading to the next tip. Take out your kid a lot. He can also go into a career based off of the people he befriends.

(Harvest Moon N64) TO BE CONFIRMED:

I'm not sure if this is true or not but if you have a lot of crops in your Greenhouse, the hurricanes won't blow it away. I noticed that if I didn't have any crops in it, or very little, it would be blown away. Another tip for this game is that right after the New Year, Elli/Ellen's grandmother passes away. Due to the dates and the holidays, it makes it hard to access any stores around that time and I think days may be skipped so be sure to have Animal Medicine with you before then.

(Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland):

eep your animals out as much as possible and of course keep them indoors when it rains. If they are indoors when it's sunny they WILL get sick!

(Harvest Moon: Wind Bazaar)

Jump in the river (or any water for that matter) repeatedly to find gold which sells for 8k at the bazaar each week. Note though that you will lose stamina each time you jump in. Another is to put flowers in your pot in your house, looking at fresh flowers give you stamina.

envoyxp's Tips!:

(Harvest Moon DS)

When the Casino Opens:
1. Get a teleport rock (1k shouldn't be hard to get that high)
2. Animal Blanket for start-up money (600k+ each)

3. If you need money in the very beginning (first 6-7 days): go to the mine and dig for jewlery worth 2k each.
4. Level UP your crops to maximize profit. Harvest Sprites are very useful tools.

MORE TO COME!.... I hope BTW! I forgot, this is an EPIC website for Harvest Moon: http://www.fogu.com/hm/

I think the best strategy is to plant apricots in January and save them until April, then make apricot pie.

PhoenixShots sure seems to know his stuff..

I guess I'll add some more tips here I suppose..

N64: I'm not sure if this is true or not but if you have a lot of crops in your Greenhouse, the hurricanes won't blow it away.

Save the Homeland: Keep your animals out as much as possible and of course keep them indoors when it rains. If they are indoors when it's sunny they WILL get sick!

Wind Bazaar (newest release for the DS): Jump in the river (or any water for that matter) repeatedly to find gold which sells for 8k at the bazaar each week. Note though that you will lose stamina each time you jump in. Another is to put flowers in your pot in your house, looking at fresh flowers give you stamina.

There's so many hints I can provide but I'd flood your main post with them. Plus there's over 25 Harvest Moon games out there to cover. I guess if anyone needs help or tips on any of the games (though I'm still missing a few but have most of them) then feel free to send me a PM and I'll try to help you out.

Ack my tip is up there? It's not even that great of one. If I would provide tips, there would be a bunch of them. I guess umm.. for any game really, a good way to start earning money is starting by the cheaper crops and planting more and more after harvesting them. And side cash could always be the stuff you find in the mountains and around town.

In Another Wonderful Life, don't.. and I mean DON'T buy the goat. You cannot sell it and it only provides milk for a short amount of time. Only way to get rid of the goat is to kill it. Depressing scene really.
Also the teddy bear that Van sells after your kid is born is alive. And evilish. I think he makes your kid manic-depressive. I know mine is. My kid yells at me a lot. Or maybe it's because I didn't take him out much. Take out your kid a lot also so he can go into a career based off who he befriends growing up.

Sorry Mod, but I really couldn't resist with the '?' 'Profit!' business but other than that, it's all to rules, as for the misunderstanding I'll take care of it

OMG Harvest Moon thread! *rushes in*

Argh I see memes! How frustrating! Please remove that whole "?" "Profit!" business. I don't want to have to delete this entire thread because of it.. Harvest Moon threads are so rare! WAH!

LOL I apologize for my spontaneous behavior. I've been a massive fan of Harvest Moon ever since it was released here.. I was about 12 at the time. I have over 25 different Harvest Moon games and I used to be a Global Moderator at a Harvest Moon forum. I'm just NUTS about the series. Anyway umm umm Friends of Mineral Town? I marry each chick but my favorite would be Popuri or Ann. Magical Melody? Hmm it's been ages. I stopped playing after I got my 97th note.. (still need to find that stupid truffle..) well all the crops are pretty good I guess, it varies on which soil you plant on as well.

Hmm my mind is running a mile a minute so I can't think straight.

@Sirenheart I thought it was pretty simple. Same-sex marriage could be a problem I guess. xD
I'm pretty sure they won't be making same-sex marriages though. Sorry

@Karen I saved you just in time from Rik! (I really detest him he's just sooooo.... Creepy... I can't describe it!) HE CALLS ME HIS FRIEND? THEN HE SAYS 'Treat Karen right' I give her wine every day thank you very much. It's okay my baby will be born autistic because of her drinking habits. KARMA FTW?

@ above I married Eve on the SNES version
