I'm sure you've already been quoted to death, but it's not as simple as wanting your character to move up a tiny bit. Some people hit 200 and want their basil to reflect that. Some people made new characters, but can't add them because the rankings haven't updated. Some people have bought entirely different equips/nx and want to see it on their basil(yes that matters to some people). Plenty of reasons to be annoyed by how slow they've been updating the rankings.

I know! I hit 200, so I actually needed to update my character lol... unless you hit 200 or a landmark level it doesn't matter doe

@Mikevit At the end of the day it doesnt matter how basil updates. Nexon will update ranks until maplestory no longer exists. You know that to be fact so I dont see why you're trying to argue against it. You can be patient. Personally I dont care about my basil avatar and frankly I find it a little pathetic that there are those who do. But to each his own.

Nobody can prove that the rankings are going to be updated before they are updated without visiting/ contacting nexon, which is a hassle. And even then Nexon would have no obligation to reveal any information regarding their day to day operation. What we can do is say "i told you so" 400+ times throughout the next couple of years until you get it beaten into your head. If you dont get it then, then theres no hope for you.

I check the Evan rankings quite often to see if someone who got to 200 before me was banned/unbanned, I'm 26th but DavidIt (first Scanian Evan) is not on the rankings atm so I'm 25th for now :l I hope nothing bad happened to him.

I am aware of what the word "eventually" means. "At an unspecified future time." Maybe they will just never update them again. {granted this is unlikely} But, you have not proved to me that they will "eventually" update the rankings again.

I don't get why people keep QQing over this.. Honestly.. Who cares? Are you proud to be ranked 1'51? Are you that obsessed with your character that you want everybody who checks rankings to see what you look like(which is hardly anybody)? Get over it, they have other things to do.

It is a huge issue because some of us care about seeing our newest progress/outfit on Basil/Rankings.

It's not something that can be fully explained. It's a need for it to be there, it's like an OCD.

Anyway, Nexon usually updates the ranking everyday around 1-2pm (in EST).
I don't see how they could forget about doing a daily task.

@MikeVit, I didn't word that very well. I forgot that programmers take things exactly how they're said, and that language has to be extremely accurate. Yes, I knew that the whole database runs on a function, not "I think". Some looping techniques run faster than others, and when you start looping through thousands or even millions of items the efficiency of your code becomes very important; so I still believe that it would slow down a little bit, no matter how big your servers are.

A ton of people of Basil care, and get annoyed when it takes more than one week. The point of getting Nx clothes is to look good. It's annoying when you can't change your avatar.

The rankings do work from a function. The function is a series of if loops that change where the characters are stored in an array. This array is then displayed publicly. The rankings were being updated every day. Before today they haven't been updated in 15 days. If the rankings were automatic they they would be updated at a given time interval, which they haven't been. "It wouldn't resent constantly though, because that would slow down the servers." It depends on your definition of constantly. And no, simple if loops consume trivial amount of conventional memory, even if there are 20M items to stack.

ok guys, Basil simply takes your MapleStory character from the web site's ranking, and by the way, you update it manually(u decide when u want to update). So if the rankings are not updated, and your character's look is from 15 days ago, you get mad or some people does! Because they want their actual MapleStory look on Basil.
It's a big deal for people who takes their appearance seriously.

I think the rankings work from an automated function, not from a lazy Nexon employee. It wouldn't reset constantly though, because that would slow down the servers.

So ok, basil and maplestory are separate entities. When you play maplestory you increase your levels and change equip. Changing the equip changes how your avatar looks. This is stored in Nexon's datebase. Basil calls from where they can view avatars, the rankings. How long have you had your basil account? Basil will not automatically update your id for you. You have to do this manually: BasilID: Players: then click on the little gear: edit: update. Try this and we'll see if your avatar changes

If Basil didn't have a player addition function, you wouldn't care either.

I cant claim to know for sure, but I dont see how updating rank and updating equips come in some sort of package. In the MS, character equips are updated as soon as theyre put on, however, ranks are only periodically updated. I dont know how basil works, but you've given me no proof that basil updates char info only when nexon updates rank. Dude... basil calls from your maplestory character in the nexon database. First nexon has to update, once that does you can go to your basilID and then update your character...
