Restricting bots in free market
As all of you know, there are numerous bots in FM often posting some message saying to go to a various webpage to get good deals etc. Nexon, I guess, does it's best to remove these bots. However, it's fairly easy to create another character and start botting some messages again. To some of you these bots may not be a big deal, but when I'm using my older computer they slow down FM and even Ardentmill. Besides the lag they generate they also get in the way other others trying to legitimately sell things. Since Nexon is unable to quickly remove these I came up with an idea that maybe some of you might disagree with... I was thinking about restricting the entrance to free market to those characters above level 20. It is still fairly easy for those creating bots to get to level 20, but I'm certain this will cut down in the numbers of bots there, also since there are less bots there Nexon will have to spend less time dealing with them and hopefully more time on game development. I would like to acknowledge that it seems somewhat harsh to alter a game solely to account for those trying to subvert the intent of the game, but I think Nexon should find some way of removing these bots. To those of you that say, that is ridiculous, do you actually ever go to FM before level 20? Any thoughts?
I agree.. this is a good idea.
I also agree the level should be 30.
It's unlikely a legit player will need to bother with the FM before they hit first job anyway.
And yes, you can get a bot character to level 30 in about an hour, but that's an hour the gold farmer slime will have to spend that they don't have to spend now.

Yes, this is basically what I was thinking
Nexon should just block all messages with "www" in them
Well, I agree but an easy way around this is to put "w.w.w." or with commas or semi-colons two periods etc.

Anything that can be done to discourage them is a plus.
They have to spend an hour getting a bot to level 30 and it gets deleted so they have to spend another hour making another one just to get it deleted.
Maybe if it pisses them off enough they'll go find a different game to screw with.
I'm not that fast of a leveler, and this seems like hell. I would like it so that they could go in, but they can't talk until level 30, because I have lag and can only use the storage in deserted FMs and Ardentmills.
You'll learn to level up quickly, don't worry. I understand the need for the storage the ticket I sent would only affect FM so you'll be still able to use ardentmill's storage. And by the time they do anything about it, I'm sure you'll be above the level required BTW here is the ticket I sent:
"Hi, as you know there are numerous bots in FM. In general they add to lag and get in the way of people trying to sell things. Also they advertise webpages which I'm sure you're not so happy about. We as a community feel that there is a fairly easy way to solve this problem. Simply make a level requirement of about level 30 to enter free market. No one ever goes there, for legitimate reasons, below this level. It will be fairly time consuming for those creating the bots to continuously reach this level. Hopefully this will help the botting problem.
Thank you for your time.
Michael Vitarelli"
Make them lvl 100 when their text is heard on screen.
Takes 4-5hrs or so.
Level 50<.
It should be lvl 30.
It takes like 40 minutes to make and the people who do really want to sell things would not be bothered as they also like lvling their char
I have to agree.
Lv 30 seems like a nice round number to use as a level requirement for FM.
why don't they just kill the bat man?
Don't you mean botman
why don't they just kill the bat man?
I sent the ticket. I increased the level to 30 in the ticket. Good luck us I'll let everyone know, next year sometime, when they answer me.
@theface: oops i meant 13
That's actually a really good idea....
I was thinking about suggesting a higher level, but I didn't want to hinder those (oh a piece of bacon in my beans!) who are new to the game and might need to buy something or possibly going there looking for help. But if we agree I can e-mail Nexon and suggest this... ... however they will ignore me
Hell id say make them allowed in fm but unable to talk untill level 50.
That's actually a really good idea....
People make level 1 merchers but I think it's a pretty good idea. BTW, most of the lag is from the mounts and people spamming with or without bots.
you cant be lv 1 to merchant. 2m max on trade for the day i believe
It should be lvl 30.

So just go in FM from another channel, go in one of the rooms, and channel/room surf from inside.
Yeah thats what I generally do.
Well i think it might cut down the frequency of botting spamming messages but its easy to get to lvl 20 and any higher level would just make u feel restricted. As for the lag its no problem even for me when my computer isnt good for crap. The botters dont really give off lag the rest of fm does so dont confuse the 2
There is a restriction already but if you enter from Ereve you can enter the FM from lv1
Dont you mean restricting the entrance to those below 20?
Well, there's nothing they can do about that at the moment.
So just go in FM from another channel, go in one of the rooms, and channel/room surf from inside.
Also, non bots sell items that way.
People make level 13 merchers but I think it's a pretty good idea. BTW, most of the lag is from the mounts and people spamming with or without bots.
Why are you telling normal maplers on Basil market when you should be sending a ticket to Nexon?
many put their lv13 mules up in shops
it takes only 10-20 minutes to get to lvl 20. Such a small lvl requirement will not stop botters in the fm.
