You guys think these are good deals for laptops?

They fit by budget. I'm going to be a computer science major in college this year so I need something with good battery and is lightweight while being powerful enough for comp sci programming. I know that is too much to ask for so it has been hard but I've been looking for a while now. Which one should I get? They are very similar, I know. Do you guys recommend I look at something else? I'm not sure if Acer is a good brand or not but my friend said its horrible and their batteries die very quickly.

This computer imo is a better deal. Lenovos are generally very good computers. This particular laptop is cheaper than the Acer while having a better processor and you know... its not an Acer.
Is it me or i can't see the link.

I feel like an Asus K55N-DB81 might be better for the price and processing power, but to each his own, I suppose.
Seems like a good deal. I am not too big a fan of Aver however. I prefer Asus over all brands. They come a slightly higher cost, but they are definitely worth the money. I'd also suggest a Toshiba though I don't know what the general public feels about them, I had one that lasted for about 5 years. I'd suggest an HP, but I have had 2 family members with HPs that would overheat so bad that the GPU would melt off of the motherboard. And it was a common problem. I would definitely do my diligence and search around the internet to make sure any computer you buy doesn't have some sort of bad reputation such as that.
And you most likely won't need a DVD drive in college, but you can never know if you will have an old fashioned professor. My sister had one that recorded his lectures in 2001 and gives you a CD at the beginning of the class and then he had 3 more class periods the whole semester. If that were to occur you could pick up a USB DVD reader for probably $50 or less.
did you mean cpu./ yes, stop spilling garbage all over this place.

No! Acer is a really bad brand along with dell. I'd use my money on a quality HP like i have no i got it on Black Friday, for 550 down from 1100, but either get an HP or a mac, best 2 brands imo for school work and games together.
I actually just bought the second one lol. I think the 572G is probably better, but you have to mind that it has no dvd drive.
Would I need a dvd drive in college? The second one has a newer version so I'm not sure if I should wait for it lol.

Apparently Acer laptops barely last a year or two. Says my mom who does IT.

But it's a really good price, you might as well get the HD8750 version.

Just make sure Windows 8 is compatible with most of the comp sci (i.e. works with all scripting / programing languages) that you will be doing.

I heard Acers are actually decent for the price. It's not great but I'm guessing it'll get the job done.
I'm an Apple guy so I just mindlessly buy whatever Apple puts out on the market without questioning it.
