Came back after 1 year. Super laggy now?
I get crazy lag in town. Outside of town, if I kill any monsters it lags like crazy. Free Market seems to work fine though. I'm 100% sure my computer is able to run Maplestory when my computer can run higher end games at max fps. Maple ran perfectly before. What is going on? How do I fix this? I tried reinstalling. First I downloaded from Steam and thought lag was from Steam so I uninstalled. Then I re install from site but it is still laggy.
Edit: Could it be corrupted files from reinstalling too many times?

Network lag = Game running fine. Speech bubbles don't appear when you hit enter. People walk in place.
FPS lag = Whole screen/game frozen can't even move mouse.
I think he means FPS lag so it's not his internet connection.
@above:
you're probably right because on my other computer most towns lag except for aqua which has those npcs in a different map which does lag.
ever since the tempest patch >.<
It's very annoying how a game like this can have such bad lag. I can't seem to find a way to at least lower the lag a little bit. When the game opens, it takes a long time for the "loading" screen to go and that didn't use to happen before. Opening the quests log always lags (similar to the guild tab glitch back then), and I get the same problems the OP said. Meh.
Useless NPC's, poorly implemented codes, etc.
Why are all the comments getting liked?
It's all the useless NPC's
@MapleGuyx: uh I bought it years ago for 150m I think
its the new anti hack system. Black cipher. eventually ur computer will stop lagging and get to the new antihack system.
Yeah in towns, i have craaazzzyyyy lag. It's my computer though, not my internet.
My sister has a better laptop than my desktop and runs maple fine in towns.
Samee for me towns are extremely laggy when no one is there but Free Market Channel 1 with 30-50 works just fine haha
What Operating System do you have?
at one point when I was training my luminous I had the exact same equips you have on now.
every time I see your pic I keep thinking it's my lum
heard from a a friend that town lag was caused by gaga and Cassandra. not sure though
The lag is very specific. Whenever I use the flashy skills of the Hayato class on no monsters at all it doesn't lag. But whenever I kill a monster, I get a 1 second lag spike. I've also found that I lag more around certain NPC like Cassandra. Must be something wrong with the coding or something on Nexon's part. I'll try to uninstall completely and if it still lags then w/e.
Im in the same boat, my computer can run Mass Effect, Cryisis, PES 2013, etc. and I dont get lag.
I can run LoL too without any lag.
But in Maple that is 2D pewm lag.
It's not my internet connection because I can play any online game perfectly.
Thanks and I've played on a 48 kbps Internet Connection and a 2mbps Internet and the lag was unchanged
Its mostly and the specs of your Labtop
How much Processing power, RAM, how advanced your driver is
Stoofs like that
Yeah this is usually true. OP said he can run high end games no problem though, so it can't be that. I'm not really sure on this one.
Maybe try uninstalling Maple, deleting all remaining files, then try to install again and see if it works. Good luck!
They ruined MS for people with not that great computers in Tempest Patch
I have the same problem
There is nothing to do to fix the problem but deal with it
Well u might want to downgrade to XP professional if you have no other option =/
Or upgrade to Windows 7 er 8
Win 7 isn't all that great and has quite a few problems initially and over time
Windows 8 isn't fully compatible with Maplestory yet, Windows 7 works perfectly fine.
As for the lag issue, I have no idea.
The town lag is a known issue, the rest may be your internet.
Perhaps it is your internet connection.
im lucky... i dont have lag in town or anywhere..
but that sucks that you have lag,,
I have Windows Vista.
