Fafnir Mistilteinn and Terminus Shield combo will, in almost all cases, outdamage Ryude's Sword, if properly scrolled and has exceptional potential and other damage increasing factors.

Use Ryudes/1H once u cap, otherwise stick to 2H for the much stronger weapon multiplier.

On that note, has anyone ever tested ryudes on a hero to see what skills actually do get +1 line? Does raging blow, that combo pull move, rush, etc all get +1 line?

Actually, I'm less sure about the dojo thing now. I just explicitly calculated the number of hits required to do dojo using a 1h and a Ryudes. 1h requires 118 hits while Ryudes requires 105. That is a 11% decrease from 1h to Ryudes. I'm not too sure what the % difference in delay is between speed1 and speed0, but if it's around 10% as I think it is, then they'll be about the same.

There are other factors reducing number of hits such as FA activation, Rush-finisher for mid-spawns, and Soul Summon support, but I assume these opportunities come up equally between the two.

Against enemies that take multiple hits with both weapon types, the 1-handed weapon will often beat out the 2-handed weapon in terms of damage over time. This is mainly because the 1-handed weapons tend to be faster and will hit more times per minute than their 2-handed counterparts. This normally isn't that big a deal in situations like training, but bosses that take a while to kill will favour the faster weapon.

Mind you, at the same time, if you can't find a better 1-handed weapon as easily (or as cheap) as the 2-handed counterpart, you're not losing all that much going 2-handed either.

Really, unless you're the kind of person who is EXTREMELY into min-maxing every facet of your character to get the peak amount of damage out of them to the point of near obsession, just go with what you like more.

So sorry again op. Btw. 2 handed is better until you're capping. 1h gives the advantage of slightly faster buffing and skill animation/faster attacking. Your rush is faster, your enrage is faster, generally everything is faster. 2 handed has a higher multiplier and will increase your range more but once capping, 1h becomes superior in just about every way.

Ty for answers guys. So on bosses like vellum, ryuudes better but on a stationary boss where pure dpm is involved the 1h still beats the ryuude in dpm?

Don't think the differences are too big between Ryudes speed1 vs 1h speed0 to really matter in a sustained DPM battle. For bosses where you get fewer opportunities to get attacks in (Magnus, Von Bon, etc.), a Ryudes might be better to squeeze out the extra lines, but you'd be sacrificing greater agility that comes with reducing attack delays.

However, for dojo, I'm heavily inclined to think 1h speed0 still wins out, since for dojo what matters is not primarily DPS but the number of attacks it takes to kill a boss...and a Ryudes only reduces the number of attacks by 1 for few bosses, while a 1h's delay reduction applies throughout the entire dojo.

Pretty sure Ryude's would win, since there's SI + Legendary potential + Green potion for the lack of attack speed. Not too sure though

Sorry to steal your thread but I really wanna take this opportunity to ask..

1h sword + shield vs ryude sword. Which is better? Even at capping. Which deals more dmg? The extra speed of the 1h sword or the extra line of dmg from ryude?

I like 1h with a shield. You attack faster, you can scroll the shield, looks cooler imo (i like the look of khanjar with a sword makes me look like a db). 2h does have a higher weapon multiplier so you have higher damage at the cost of less attack speed.
