Just be sure to check what your computer needs before you actually buy anything for it. There are different types of both RAM and video cards available, depending on exactly what your computer needs, so check before you buy.

Good luck with it..!

Yes, I agree- your computer should be able to handle Maplestory OK.

You apparently have an "integrated video card" built-into the motherboard, which is sharing the RAM with the main computer system which is why the RAM figure is a somewhat odd number. Most likely there's really 1 GB of RAM, but the video card shares some of it, leaving the 898 MB you reported.

Two things that might help- adding another GB of RAM would ease the disk swapping problem CTBlack mentioned. Because Maple is such a big program, it's likely your computer has to pause and save part of the program to the hard drive so it can load a different part which takes some time, making the computer "lag". Then when it needs the first part of the program again, it has to reload it from the hard drive and save out some other part back to the drive. This goes on all the time and makes the computer lag. Expanding the virtual memory like CTBlack suggested may help, but the ultimate solution would be to increase the actual RAM in the computer. Depending on the exact type of RAM the computer uses, it should cost about $30 or less.

The second thing to consider would be to add a separate video card. This has two benefits- first it would have its own RAM built in so it wouldn't need to take any RAM from the system and you'd have full use of the original 1 GB of RAM for games. Also, an add-on video card would have much better graphics speed, which would also help make the games run faster and smoother. Again depending on exactly what kind of "expansion slots" your computer has, you could add a video card fairly inexpensively. I actually buy video cards on eBay and get pretty good prices for my older computers, usually in the range of about $25. A brand new card from a store or online retailer would of course cost more, but Maplestory doesn't require a great deal of graphics power, so an inexpensive video card would do the job.

And something you can try now without adding any hardware would be to download and run "GameBooster", if you haven't already tried it.

It doesn't help newer, extremely fast computers very much, but older and slower computers can benefit from it. What it does is to temporarily stop unneeded Windows processes that are running all the time while you're playing a game. For example, the "print spooler" runs constantly, taking up CPU power in the background even though you'll never use it while playing Maplestory. GameBooster closes all those things for you while you play, then when you're done playing it will restart everything to put things back to normal.

It's free and easy to use- I use it on my older computer that I play MapleStory on. Google the name ("GameBooster&quot for the download link.

Your computer specs looks fine for MS, I have an even crappier laptop that can run MS ok, but it needed some tweaking. I think the main issues is, there are too many unnecessary processes running which causes your computer to do paging to hard disk. You should go download "Hijackthis" and do a scan and post it for someone to check out all the processes your have running, so they can tell you which process(es) you don't need and to kill them off. Also you will probably need to increase your virtual memory (or paging file size), as MS has grown a lot bigger now and the memory your computer has is only marginally capable of running it, if you count memory used by other processes. Try to increase paging file size first and see if it helps a bit, just do the following:

right click on "My Computer" -->Properties, then click "Advanced" tab, then click "Settings" in the "Performance" section, then click "Advanced" tab in the "Performance Options" window, you should now see a "virtual memory" section at the bottom. I would change it to around 1500 MB.

Yes- first tell us about your computer...

What BRAND is it..? (Like Dell, Toshiba, whatever), and what MODEL is it..? (Like "Dimension 567X&quot or whatever. If you don't know what these are, it usually tells on a label on the side or back of the computer.

If we know that we can look up a lot more info about your computer as a starting point to know what you have to work with.
